First gear is a short shift with the highest torque, second gear is a longer shift but only with marginally less torque. It has more staying power and will start the bike easier in cold weather. It is better for your lighting as well. The problem is likely to be that your battery is not fully charged when you got it. A 150 wouldn't do well with a passenger, and you would have to take into consideration your combined weight. This is the specs, but take into account the Chinese are short, petite, lightweight people. How fast does a KYMCO 150 go? between 60 and 70 MPH Kymco's U.S. distributor told me that the 150's top speed is between 60 and 70 MPH and that the 250's top speed is between 70 and 80 MPH.
