Can you still bypass the passlock system if it is not resetting at all. I know to reset the system by the 10 min rule however I have tried it about 10 times and it still won't start. I have been resetting the system for about a year now. I had the passlock repaired a few years ago at the dealer ship and it started again about a year ago.

Hi mary_schombu, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box? Do you have the passlock with the resistor pellet in the key and the short wires on the shank?

If this was repaired by the dealer before take it back many repairs are warranted for the time you own the car.

SOURCE: 02 Blazer wont Start, Passlock?

I had the same problem when I replaced my multiswitch. I set off the "passlock 2" system that my blazer was equipped with because I didn't disconnect the battery before I took out the bad switch and put in a new one. That ended up blowing a fuse labeled "TBC." Its located in the fuse box in the engine compartment. Its a 10 amp. I know you said you checked all the fuses, but I would double check that one.

SOURCE: pass lock problems

Your Passlock may need to relearn the ignition keys, if the ignition lock has gone bad like my in-laws Grand Am Gt, here is what i did so they will not get stranded any more. Buy a Passlock by pass module for around $70.00. You can order one from GMPASSLOCK.COM in the mean time try resetting the Passlock. Good luck

Ignition keys relearn takes about 30 min to do. 30-Minute Learn Procedure
1.) Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
2.) Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON; the vehicle will not start.
3.) Observe the SECURITY tell tale light. After approximately 10 minutes, the light will turn OFF.
4.) Turn OFF the ignition switch, and wait 5 seconds.
5.) Repeat steps 1 through 4 - two more times - for a total of 3 cycles of 10 minutes. 3x10 = 30 minutes.
The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch turn from OFF to CRANK Important: Turn the Ignition Switch OFF. The vehicle learns the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.
6.) Start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password.
7.) With a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed. History DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles.

Without a scan tool you may have momentary starter interruptions while history clears itself.

How do you reset passlock?

Turn the key to run position (engine not running) theft light will flash a few times and stay on. Leave for approximately 10 minutes (may take up to 20 min.) And the theft light will turn off. Repeat these steps 3 times. After the third turn the key off and attempt to start.

How do i reset my theft system if the the factory radio is removed my 98 malibu

You should be able to reset it without the radio. Turn your key forward 2 clicks until right before the car would normally start, leave like this for ten minutes. (No less than ten. Eleven is safe) Turn the key back to the "off" position for 5 seconds and repeat the whole process 2 more times.

So that's forward 10 minutes, back for 5 seconds. Forward 10, back 5. And the final forward 10, back 5. Try to start vehicle.

This is a complete GM Passlock relearn. Should take about 30 minutes. If that doesn't work, you may have something broken. Normally, the passlock doesn't get triggered for no reason. So worst case scenario, you can always bypass the entire system. Here is a great link with a ton of info on Passlock and how to get around it

What is the passcode for the anti theft system

his vehicle has a the PASSLOCK II key
based engine disabling system.

You can attempt to put the key in the ignition,
turn it on to just before cranking and then leaving
it that way for 10 mins. After that,
some PASSLOCK systems will re learn the code
and allow for starting. But if not, the system
will either need to be seen by GM or, a bypass module
is required to circumvent.

If left unchecked, it will continue to lock down
the fuel injector rail, and you will need to tow
it in to GM for evaluation, and resetting anyway.

Bothersome, but can be fixed.

I suggest the PLJX bypass kit to get around
this issue. www.PASSLOCK2.com

This Passlock Bypass Module is designed to momentarilly
allow the engine to remote start by sending a proper
coded pulse to open the fuel rail passlock injector
cut off circuit.

The output from an alarm/remote starter
would then shut down the pulse, once it has detected
the engine has engaged, and preserve the integrity
of the passlock system.

That is it's designed purpose.

However, in your case, this input wire on the PLJX module,
instead of going to a momentary ground pulse from
an alarm/remote starter,
would go to a constant chassis ground, through
the bypass module, grounding out the PASSLOCK.
The PASSLOCK would then always be bypassed as long
as that wire is chassis grounded.

I can not speak about a damaged passlock system,
like if a thief has destroyed it, because I do not
get into this part of GM'S security application.
But as a happy coincidence to installing
after market remote starters, this does work on bypassing
passlock in most all GM vehicles we've run into,
including your year GM vehicle as well.

Also, this is a self learning, resistor sensing
and adjusting module. Once the VATS wires have been tapped,
you would press the program button to learn,
and it does. The car should then allow start
with any hardware store key.

It would on yours as well.

You might want a car alarm installer to do this
for you, the fair rate being around 50. to 75.
for labor.

there is a way to bypass the system we do it often but you will need to buy a data bypass unit to install in order to bypass the passlock sensor in the dash. Once the unit is installed, it is turned on by inserting the key into ignition, then the unit will send the proper code to the BCM allowing it to unlock the ECM and then car will start.

2006 chevy colorado passlock comes on and stays on, truck won't start for 10+ min. Can I disable this feature?

No, it can not be disabled.
The theft system is indicating a short term theft issue.
Have you added any "after market" remote start systems or alarms?
If NO.
Insert the key in the ignition, turn the key to run position ( do not start ) and leave it in that position for 10 minutes. Cycle the key to LOCK position, count to 10, then turn the key back to run position and leave on for 10 more minutes. After the 10 minutes is up, repeat the procedure (1) more time and the security system will relearn the PASS code.
Give it a try and let me know.
