Use a large breaker bar and impact socket, and wedge against the ground or on the frame of vehicle, some place it won't kick out and turn the ignition key to tap starter (crank engine) quickly and starter will free bolt. Make sure that the breaker bar is on your right side looking at the bolt. Then use puller if needed to remove balancer.
Looking at the front of the engine, the harmonic balancer turns clockwise when running. You will need to turn the bolt anti clockwise as it is a normal right hand thread.
Right hand thread righty tighty lefty loosey. some require a impact wrench 1/2 or 3/4 drive to loosen if either not available the install socket with breaker bar leaving 6 inches of slack between bar and frame crank engine sometime this will loose bolt. you hear a BIG bang as it loosen.
The harmonic balancer should loosen in the CCW direction. Turn the bolt to counter clock wise direction. To tighten the bolt turn in clock wise direction.--------------This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.
No, the bolt is not left handed. You do need to turn it counter-clockwise to loosen it. You're probably just spinning the engine when trying to loosen it. I use a 6" c-clamp and attach it behind the balancer in a way that the threaded shaft can lodge up against something so the engine can't turn. Then I use a 3 lb rubber mallet and hit the 1/2" drive rachet on the handle, or put a breaker bar on the end of it and work it loose that way. Once you get the bolt off, you will need to use a pulley puller to get the balancer off.
