  I cant find my orifice tube location a 2007 dodge ram 1500 with a 4.7 engine. Might be better to put this in the 3rd gen Ram forum instead of 2nd gen Dakota.

The orifice tube is always located on the inlet to the evaporator coil. You sure you have an orifice tube system on that vehicle? It could be a TXV valve

First off the system has to be evacuated of all freon and oil. The orifice tube is located in the low pressure line some where in the system usually located by a indent in the line. I would recommend having it replaced and the system possibly flushed by a proffessional who has the equipment to properly evacuate and recharge and possibly flush the system if there is a restriction within the orifice tube

Are your asking about TXV valve thermal expansion valve for A/C system ? If you are ,yours doesn't have one . Has an orifice tube , The orifice tube is located in the liquid line between the condenser and the evaporator !
The orifice tube is the dividing point for the high and the low pressure sides of the A/C system. As the refrigerant passes through the orifice tube, the pressure on the refrigerant is lowered. Due to the pressure differential on the liquid refrigerant, the refrigerant will begin to vaporize at the orifice tube. The orifice tube also meters the amount of liquid refrigerant that can flow into the evaporator.

The rear TXV is located at the rear evaporator inlet. The TXV is the dividing point for the high and the low pressure sides of the rear A/C system. As the refrigerant passes through the TXV, the pressure on the refrigerant is lowered. Due to the pressure differential on the liquid refrigerant, the refrigerant will begin to boil at the expansion device. The TXV also meters the amount of liquid refrigerant that can flow into the evaporator.

The orifice tube is located in the line of the high pressure side of the system it maybe at the condenser or in the high pressure line. You should be able to feel a crimp in the line and the is the stop for the orifice. I believe the o6 is in the line and as I said there is a crimp in the line where the orifice is located.

best advice is the method i would use to located the orifice tube in the 2000 chevy venture. check the automotive repair book section in your local library. Most libraries have repair manuals on their automotive shelf section. find the a/c manual for your year and model car. make a copy of the page that has the information you need. you will need to make a copy because the library will not let those manuals be checked out. you might want to google for the location of the orifice tube location. In front of your radiator is the condensor. On the passenger side of the condensor are two lines. One runs parallel with the condensor fins (upper), and the other runs at an angle (lower). The lower line in the condensor is where your orifice is located. Properly evacuate the system and remove the fitting on the lower line. the orifice is located in the the tube that is at an angle on the condensor Look inside the tube and you will see the top of the orifice. looks like a crosshair. Carefully remove it with good needle nose pliers. DO NOT TWIST WHILE TRYING TO REMOVE IT. Just pull it out of the tube. It may be a little stubborn. Once removed, install the new orifice and replace the o ring on the line fitting. Have the system checked for leaks and recharge with freon.

The orifice tube restricts the flow of refrigerant to the evaporator. This restriction allows high pressure liquid freon to change into low pressure freon before entering the evaporator. The orifice tube is located inside the hose running between the condenser and the evaporator. You'll need an orifice tube removal kit if you are looking to remove it.

1. Remove condenser to evaporator tube (19835) from vehicle.
   

1. Locate A/C evaporator core orifice (19D990) by three indentations or a circular recess in metal portion of the condenser to evaporator tube.
