Key stuck in ignition and wont go into lock position

  Is the vehicle equipped with a manual transmission?

Ignition lock cylinder failed. Remove it and take it to a locksmith to have it repaired or go buy a new lock cylinder from BMW. $$$

ignition switch keylock cylinder is broken.

In the fuse block under the drivers side rear seat check the ignition 0 fuse. In the under hood fuse block check the B/U fuse and the BTSI fuse. If the b/u fuse is blown than you would not have back up lamps.

Cause This condition may be caused by the detent finger shifting over time. This may result in mis-alignment and binding of the shift rod on the shift position guide.
WHERE YOUR SHIFTER IS YOU WILL HAVE TO TAKE IT APART ..MAYBE THE RUBBER BOOT IS IT THE WAY,OR THE SHIFT LOCK SELINOID WHENT BAD

check fuse 31 in console fuse panel, if ok ignition lock solonoid in colume probably bad.

The shank of any GM key hits a lever that locks the key in place when turned into any position other than the off position. If it stuch in off, the cylinder must be replaced

try to move the steering wheel lift or right since u try to turn key . it cuold be lock

If the ignition is stuck in the ON position but wont trun off or to the start position the ignition will need to be removed repaired or replaced. LOCKED OUT LOST KEYS [email protected]

try and turn your steering wheel a little bit left or right and and the same time try and turn the key when it turns toward the dash then try and turn the key back. try and repeat this several times if neccessary. this should work. please rate this solution. thanks
