You may have a short in the car wireing or just a dud battery,, if the altornater is leaking back that would drain the battery as well try taking off a battery lead and let the car stand for a day or so,, if it starts right up its not the battery there is a drain in the car,, but dont take off the battery if you have not got your radio coad as you will lose the radio

Testimonial: "THIS WAS VERY HELPFUL! I REMINDED THE SERVICE TECH TO CHECK THE ALTONATER BY LEAVING IT UNPLUG. HE INFORMED ME THAT THE BAKERY CABLE WAS CHECKED."

Battery is probably bad.It isnt holding a charge.I would test your battery for voltage. Also have your alternator tested. It is one or the other and is hard to tell which one it is without testing them as they do work together.

What does it mean if my car wont hold a charge if it sits for a few days if the battery is new?

Brand new battery failure that quickly would likely be bad connections at the battery, scrape clean the post connectors of any rust or corrosion. If the problem persists, the alternator would be the next step.

We have a 2008 GMC Envoy. It started making a high pitch squeel as soon as we started the car and only stops when the car is turned off. We changed the serpentine belt and both bearing. But the squeeling...

Its vary likely a bearing noise . Eighter the altenator power steering pump air pump or water pump . Although it could also be the belt tenisinor its a big time ware part . Thats what i would look at first .The water pump would be leaking from the bottom . The altenator would be giveing you battery problems charging . The air pump if you have one would show signs in engine porformance . The power steering pump you may not notcce a porformance issue .Its likely the belt tenisioner

It is hard to confirm...as you are aware...your battery is draining when not running...First try turning off all power including the radio on your next shut off...If this does not work, The only drain is usually the starter has developed a short...replaced one...and fixed problem 100 %...(as long as everything else is properly shut down)...Hope this helps...nice car:)

Check to make sure there are no lights being left on,when the door is shut, under hood light?clock radio?,and the alternator,if the voltage regulator goes out inside of it will cause this problem also.My bet is the clock.

If my 2005 jeep sits and i do not drive it everyday, it will not start the next day. Had the battery changed a year ago.

You can tell if the battery is weak while it is cranking. If that is the case then battery need to recharged. When a car is not running regularly, it doesn't have the charge from the alternator so it becomes weak. If there is no sign of weakness in cranking then the problem is not from the battery, but it is from lacking of two basic things: ignition and / or fuel. Need to find out what is the root cause. Good luck.

I have a 2007 GMC Envoy. I've had to jumpstart the SUV for the last 2 days. Could it be the battery?

Either the battery, the battery cables/connections, the alternator or alternator cables/connections (in the extreme a drain could cause battery discharge). Have battery tested. Look for signs of corrosion around cables. If vehicle won't start after sitting but will restart when turned off, suspect battery. If won't restart after driving, suspect alternator.

Have a 2004 Rodeo 3.5 Has 150+ miles intermittent start/stop/died

Sound like an alternator problem or loose connection on the charging system....theyre is a simple test you can do.....charge up the battery, start engine...mesure with an voltmeter betwen the baterie post it should read 13 -14 volt if not check for loose or coroded main wire and connector, blown charging system fuse....if you dont see anything then the alternator is most likely the cause

@005 Envoy Wont start when cold

If you can replace your own starter I would buy a new one and try it. Sounds like it could be a worn commutator and when cold the brushes do not make contact with the armature. Worn bushings will sometimes do the same thing. If you are mechanically inclined and have tools I would remove the starter and see if the shaft is loose in the bushing. If so you might try to find a replacement bushing and install it.

2002 GMC Envoy

If your 2002 gmc envoy or sierra will not even turn over with a kown good battery try starting it in nuetral then go back to park and try starting again. There is a park nuetral safety switch that can malfunction. Turn the key on then shift into nuetral, then turn fully to start.
