SOURCE: how to change the timing chain tensioner

I recommend you go down to auto part store and get yourself a Haynes auto repair manual. Its a long process and I doubt anyone want to do a-lot of typing explaining the process. This way you get clear detail step by step instruction plus if you plan to do your own repair in the future, the book will come handy. the book runs around 18-20 bucks, its worth all the money. Good luck!!!

How to change timing belt for honda pilot

Timmimg belts on honda vehicles are very in depth and on some models equiped with and balance shaft system require special tools ! It can be done at home but i highly recommend you purchase a repair manual that will give you a step by step instruction and i also recommend you change your water pump when doing this as well while everything is off the front of the engine ! Please note that all the engine Compoments must be timmed properly and in the right sequence or else engine damage can occur !

My 2003 chevy tahoe dashboard gauges stopped working, i don't know which fuses to check out. they would go out sometimes and then go back on when i restarted the car up. please help.

The dash cluster is know for two different problems.

If individual gauges bounced erratically and then quit, the little stepper motors that run them are bad. Upgrades are available from eBay, but you need PC soldering experience to change them out. An internet search will show allot of people who will rebuild the cluster for you.

If the entire cluster died all at once, the most common issue is bad solder joints near where the plug attaches to the board. This is an easier fix than the stepper motors, but still you need to be handy with a soldering iron!

.i need a diagram of

b0a164e.gif

Open hood, although it is easier to reach the belt tensioner from under the car, you will need to route the belt from above. Take the tension off the belt tensioner (a breaker bar or rachet and the proper size socket with a pipe to give ya more leverage should work) and pull the belt while the tensioner is pulled away from the belt. to put new belt on, properly follow accesorie pulleys with new belt, leaving the tensioner pulley last once that far, take your breaker bar or rachet with proper size socket... and pull the tensioner away from the belt so that you can slip the belt over the tensioner, push the belt over pulley. release the tensioner and check to make sure the belt is seated properly on all pulleys.

There should be a sticker with the diagram on the right strut tower. If it is no longer there the way to find the information (and a lot more related to your vehicle) would be to buy a Haynes manual for your model from an auto parts store or go to your local library and look in a Chilton manual. Most libraries will copy the page containing the pertinent info..

Do you have step by step instructions on how to change out an alternator on a 2002 Chevy S-10 with a 4.3 liter engine ( 4wd if that matters ). THANKS

Not specific to S-10 truck, but here you go.
Before you start, you might want to make a sketch, or take a couple of digital photos of alternator wiring and belt routing to make reassembly easier.
Disconnect negative (-) battery cable from battery.
Find serpentine belt tensioner pully. Should be a square hole in arm that holds that pulley. Insert a 3/8" socket wrench or breaker bar into hole to remove tension on belt.
Remove belt from alternator pulley.
Diconnect all wires from the rear of the alternator.
Remove alternator mounting bolts, make note of order and location of any nuts/washers/spacers.
Remove old alternator.
Installation is reverse of removal.

You should only remove the drive belt shield if you raise the car. Below are step-by-step instructions per the repair manual. Drive Belt Tensioner
Removal & Installation To Remove:
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  3. Remove the drive belt shield at the right wheel well.
  4. Remove the drive belt.
  5. Remove the drive belt tensioner mounting bolt.
  6. Remove the drive belt tensioner.
To Install:
  1. Install the belt tensioner. Torque the mounting bolt to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm).
  2. Install the drive belt.
  3. Install the drive belt shield.
  4. Lower the vehicle.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.

Can't find tensioner and how to loosen belt to change alternator in 97 ford aerostar mini van

Just a clue: the water pump and the tensioner are the only items that run off the BACK side of the belt.

So, it is the pulley that is NOT the waterpump- and it will have a 9/16ths nut sticking out of it (so that you can put a wrench on it to remove tension from the belt)
Does this get you moving in the correct direction?
