Hard to shift into gear.
Gears do not grind. It is very hard to push gearshift into gear.
Have to push gearshift very hard until it "pops" into gear.
Happens most often when engine is hot. On very cold days it might not happen at all unless car has been sitting in traffic.
Sometimes tramping the clutch hard to the floor will help.
With any vehicle that has a hydraulic clutch, a worn master cylinder or slave cylinder will give this very symptom. First step is to check the fluid in the resivor. If it is low, you will want to check for fluid bypassing the seals. Be sure to check under the rubber dust cover as fluid can collect there and not be readily visible. Also, if the fluid in the resivor is dark colored, it is an indication of the internal seals going bad and you will need to replace the cylinders.
I need to replace the light bulb in the gear shift console. how do i do that ?

Sounds like an excellent solution but I can not find the clutch M/C reservoir. There is an extra tube coming from the brake fluid reservoir that runs to a small device that looks like the M/C. There is a tube running from that around to the front of the car where the clutch should be. There does not appear to be a separate reservoir.
The BRAKE fluid reservoir is half full with cold engine.
Fluid in reservoir is clear maroon in color.
I do not see red fluid on garage floor beneath the car.
