My 2008 Pontiac G5 was stolen when I got back there was no keys I got a key cut I tried the 30 minute procedure and it doesn’t seem to work. Security light flashing

There are not two wires at the base of the steering coulmn , the theft deterrent module and the exciter coil are one unit .
Theft Deterrent Module (TDM)
The theft deterrent module (TDM) uses the following inputs: battery voltage, ignition switched voltage, and ground circuit. The TDM uses the following outputs: password exchange with the engine control module (ECM), fuel continue/disable via the serial data circuit.
When an ignition key is inserted into the ignition lock cylinder and the ignition is switched ON, the transponder embedded in the head of the key is energized by the exciter coils surrounding the ignition lock cylinder. The energized transponder transmits a signal that contains a unique value, which is received by the theft deterrent control module. The TDM then compares this value to a value stored in memory, learned key code. If the value is correct, the TDM sends a random generated number to the transponder. This is called a challenge. Both the transponder and the TDM perform a calculation on the challenge. The TDM then performs one of the following functions:
• If both the transponder value and the calculation to the challenge are correct, the TDM will send the fuel continue password to the ECM via the serial data circuit.
• If either the transponders unique value or the calculation to the challenge is incorrect, the TDM will send the fuel disable password to the ECM via the serial data circuit.
• If the TDM is unable to measure the ignition key transponder value for 1 second due to a damaged or missing pellet or a damaged exciter, the TDM will send the fuel disable password to the ECM via the serial data circuit.
On some vehicles, if the vehicle theft deterrent (VTD) system is unable to read the ignition key transponder value after the vehicle has started, the VTD system will consider itself malfunctioning. The VTD system will enter a fail enable state and will command the security indicator to illuminate. When the VTD system is in a fail enable state, the vehicle will NOT stall or stop running. If the VTD system is in a fail enable state when the ignition is switched OFF, the VTD system will remain fail enable until it is able to read a learned ignition key transponder value. When the VTD system is in a fail enable state, the VTD system is NOT active and the vehicle will start. This feature is NOT available on all GM vehicle lines

How do i disconnect my lost transponder key to my 2012 Dodge Avenger?

Call your local Dodge Service Dept. You probably will have to get your ECM reprogrammed and new keys. $200+ estimated

Bought car at auction- no keys. Had key made at GM dealer. Programmed key- key works. Car wont start- Codes are P0633 and P1629. cannot clear codes

DTC P0633 : Theft Deterrent Key Not Programmed

When learning the pre-release password, as well as the challenge and response sequence, the engine control module (ECM) is placed in learn mode. DTC P0633 will set automatically as an indicator that the system is in learn mode and not as a fault indicator. Once the password and challenge/response are learned, learn mode will be exited when the engine is successfully started. At this point, the DTC will be cleared. If the ECM does not exit learn mode, P0633 will remain current and indicate a fault.
The "key" referenced in the DTC descriptor does not refer to the vehicle key. In this case, "key" is referring to the challenge response.
DTC P0633 requires a successful engine start to exit the learn procedure and clear the DTC. If an unrelated malfunction exists that causes engine starting to be disabled or otherwise unavailable, learn mode will not exit and DTC P0633 will remain current. In this situation, the cause of the inoperative engine starting must be corrected before diagnosing DTC P0633.
DTC P1629: Theft Deterrent Fuel Enable Signal Not Received
The theft deterrent module (TDM) sends the pre-release password to the engine control module (ECM) via the serial data circuit. The ECM then sends a challenge to the TDM. Both the ECM and TDM perform a calculation on this challenge. If the calculated response from the TDM equals the calculation performed by the ECM, the ECM will allow vehicle starting.
DTC P1629 is an indicator that the challenge response was not received within the required 2 second window. This does not necessarily indicate a fault is present with the TDM or ECM. Factors such as a long engine crank, a delay in the serial data communication, or B-codes set in the TDM will cause DTC P1629 to set. This DTC should not be used as a fault indicator, but rather as a symptom to assist in the diagnosis of these other systems.
Who checked the codes , you -dealer ? You need to have BCM checked for codes B - codes ! you need a up scale diagnostic scan tool for that , dealer Tech -2 !

hi not on changing the mechanical part the ecm and transponders already match as long as u dont have to change ecm no program is required ex if u have a four cyl and u installed a 6 cyl u need new ecm that wont match including the wiring and ecm that would have to be programed to match bcm body computer module danny

This Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is output when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects errors in communication between the Transponder Key Electronic Control Unit (ECU) assembly and the ECM, or in the communication lines. The key is chiped , does it have a padlock an car symbol light on the instrument cluster when you turn the key on ? Do the headlamps work ? shine bright ? Do you have a volt meter ? Check battery voltage . Go to http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html free wiring diagrams . Enter vehicle info. year , make , model an engine size . Under system click on electrical distribution , under subsystem click on power distribution . Check power at the crank relay , plus you need to know what happens when you turn that key to start . Computers involved .Do you know about relays ?

Moving the ignition switch to the START position signals the body control module (BCM) through discrete inputs from the ignition transducer that engine crank has been requested. The BCM verifies that theft is not active and sends a serial data message to the engine control module (ECM)/powertrain control module (PCM) requesting engine start. The ECM/PCM receives a 12-volt signal from the park/neutral position (PNP) switch or clutch pedal start switch notifying that it is safe to start the engine. There is a splice on this circuit in the fuse block-underhood that supplies power for the starter relay coil. The starter relay coil control circuit is then grounded by the ECM/PCM closing the switch in the starter relay suppling 12 volts to the S-trminal of the starter. Ground is supplied through the engine block.
A scan tool of professional type would be a good tool to have to diagnose this .
