Welcome to my world. There is always a feeling of tension when pulling a bonnet release and finding it stiff and hard to pull. There is a danger it will break and cause untold troubles. This is why I remove and lubricate the cable whenever I encounter such a thing.
Sometimes the handle will break off and leave enough cable to grip with visegrips or similar. An assistant should be pressing down and releasing the bonnet while tension is applied to the cable.
If the cable broke further along and there is no access, you have to do whatever needs to be done to open the bonnet to gain access. Sometimes it is possible to remove enough components from under the engine compartment to provide access - pulleys, belts, cowlings, fan, radiator and so forth.
The other way in would be from the front removing grille, bumper and whatever panelwork that must be removed.
Neglecting to oil a bonnet cable can result in a lot of inconvenience, skinned knuckles and frayed patience and sometimes expense...
sorry no idea without a look under the bonnet and at the way the engine is built ,is oil pump driven by the timing belt ?? does engine still run ,is oil level ok?
1995 Tracker would have a timing BELT. Normal oil leak points (in order) on a Suzuki G16 engine are the distributor base (rear of motor), valve cover (top of motor), front main seal (behind lower timing belt cog) cam seal (behind the upper timing belt cog) and rear main seal. (behind the flywheel). I'd suspect the front main seal or cam seal. I use foot power to help find oil leaks.
How long is a piece of string ? without a good look under the bonnet i couldnt say but make sure the engine breather is clean and not clogged as this would cause a build up of back pressure which will cause the oil top leak from everywhere possible
Take the serpentine belt off the engine and and run it without it for a couple of minutes. Did the noise go away. If it did then it's accessory related if not it's engine related. Possibly a stuck lifter. Just spit balling here. Need more info.
If the lower fan belt pulley you are referring to is the vibration damper or harmonic balancer, then that is the pulley that is attached to the engine crankshaft, and that pulley is what turns all the other pulleys on the engine. There is a seal on the shaft behind the pulley -the front main seal. This is what may be leaking oil, and if that is the case , the seal needs to be replaced.
If it is the front main seal, and you are going to tackle the repair, you need to get a Repair Manual for your vehicle and follow the directions for the fix.
