bonnet lever under dash not working cant open bonnet car is 2000 reg e46 bmw 318i My bonnet lever has snapped and i need to replace my battery to start my car... any idea how i can get into the engine

bonnet on my BMW e36 wont close fully so it is flush to the wings like it is suppose to, is there anyway i can adjust the bonnet to make it be fully closed and flush to the rest of the car many thanks
