Jan 22, 2009 - have a 1993 dodge dakota sport that wont start. when you turn the key on there is no power to the fuel pump and does not fire. any ideas ... I just bought a1990 Dodge Dakota Sport 4x4 5-Speed, there is only one problem, it only .... I went to move it the other day, it would turn over, but had no spark or gas.
Could be a problem in the ignition circuit. Check or test coil and ignition module-one of them may be shutting down or shorting out when they get hot. Verify by checking for spark at a plug wire immediately after it shuts off: if no spark, it is an ignition problem. Besides the coil and ignition module, other possibilities are the crank position sensor, cam position sensor, ecu, the ASD relay (automatic shuit down relay-it's in the power distribution box under hood). If that relay fails, all power is cut to coil and fuel injectors, and maybe the fuel pump also. Good luck.
it sounds like the fuel pump is quitting once it gets warm. I've seen this plenty of times. When you turn the key to on, not all the way to start you should hear the fuel pump humm for a second or 2. When it quits on you try this to see if you get that humming. I bet the pump is dying, specially since everything else is new. Good luck and I hope this helps you.
sounds like your ignition coil is getting hot. it is either a bad connectioin with the wiring leading to your distributor or bad connections with your batt terminals. also you might want to check all your fuses and make are all correct size
Remove the distributor cap and look to see that the rotor button is turning, and not stopping, the truck, may have jumped time. The timing chain may hve broke. If not, replace the pick up coil in the distributor.
Sounds like a short in the wiring going to your blower motor. Using a volt meter pull the plug off of your motor and check the hot wire to ground. Should have no continuity.
