Transmission made a loud pop then quit moving in
An automatic transmission consists of a series of bands (gears) which is each gear within the transmission. You state that truck will move in reverse, but not in drive. The loud pop you heard was the forward gear band breaking. From this point you have two options...either have the transmission rebuilt or replaced.
My 92 Dodge Dakota keeps dying while in motion
I had same problem with 99 Durango.
It was an easy and cheap fix -- I went to AutoBeef.com and learned common problem with 98 & 99 Durango -- sounds exactly like your problem. I was encouraged to replace the PCM "Brain" and was advised of an online Refurbished PCM dealer located in Florida. You can google as I forgot the name. I called them and they confirmed an easy fix w only 3 screws to change out the brain. The cost was < $300.00 and my son & bro changed it out. Runs great ever since -- I was so grateful for AutoBeef.com for delievering this information to me. My car would die on me without warning -- totally unreliable and dealer and mechanics had no clue. Your problem sounds like mine -- call the PCM reburbishing company and see what they think.

How to set your clock stereo on 1992 Dodge Dakota
?Turn the vehicle on then push the SEL button. It should flash back and forth between the time and the radio station you are set to. Set it to the time position.
?Now push the SET button. On my original stereo a P comes up. ( I think the P means p.m. but I have not been able to figure out how to change that setting) Next try the SEL button. It should flash to the hour. Use the TUNE knob to scroll to the desired hour.
?Push the SEL button and you should be able to set the desired minutes the same way.
?Push the SEL button again and the clock on your vehicle stereo should be set.
Vibration at 75 mph
Must be bad u-joint. To check it, let off the gas pedal. If it stops right away, it's the u-joint. If it takes a few seconds, it's a tire out of balance, or a bent wheel.
Is there a way to remove inertia fuel cutoff on a ranger?
It is an inertia switch, meaning that it works when there is a sudden change in inertia. The switch is closed by default and opens in an accident or rollover. You can easily remove this safety feature from your system by simply unhooking the connector and jumping across the 2 terminals with a piece of wire. But I strongly advise against this. This is a $50 dealer part that is easily replaced if it is bad. It is a great safety feature that may save your life.
My1992 dodge dakota just shut down and wont start
i don't know. make sure you have fuel and your battery tries to start truck with your head lights on. if truck is not trying to start, you could try boosting your battery. always hook up the low battery first. my car stopped once because the battery was dead. the wire at battery terminal was loose and corroded.
i have fixed an olde man's engine by pushing the vehicle's coil wire back, into the distributor cap. i had an air lock to
my fuel tank cured by temporarily loosening my gas cap.
i found gal's olde 4 cylinder Hyundai Pony, disabled along highway. i fault found broken points. i bought new points
[ $5 ], set with a dime and she went on her way.
i fault found a dead battery in disabled auto on highway. gal's rear window heater was shorting out, sucking life out of battery. friend's car quit because coil died. consider sitting quietly, stare at the Dakota, or think about why it won't run. don't be surprised if you get an idea of why.
Have everthing but brake lights on 1992 dodge dakota what is wrong
Your brake light switch under the brake foot pedal may be defective and may need to be replaced.
If if you have a test light or multimeter you can check to see if voltage is coming from the switch once it's depressed.
You can also check the voltage at the brake light socket itself. No power = no lights.
Also depending on your vehicle you may have a fuse that controls the brake lights. Check your owner's manual if you have one.
lastly, there could be a bad ground at the taillights.
Wont Start/ Stay running
Oh man, I had the same problem with a Chev Baretta. Domestic autos of those years have so many redundant systems to prevent ruining the engine. In the case of Chev, low oil pressure would shut off the fuel pump. But a bad oil pressure sensor will do the same thing, as it's giving a false pressure reading. Best advice is to get your hands on a Chiltons/Haynes repair manual for your truck and follow the trouble shooting section. Best of luck. (After much frustration I did get that sensor replaced. Drove great until the fuel pump itself quit. I left that repair to someone else. I'm not into self-immolation.)
When I shift into 4H,
Sometimes 4WDs get "Wound up" and you need to go frwards and backwards a few times in whilst trying to select 2WD
No brakes
have you replaced the brake fluid and bled the system under pressure, starting with rear wheel diagonally opposite the master cylinder in engine bay. and work way down to shorts. removing all bubbles from the lines. any air in system can travel. you need a brake bleeding kit with pressure lead that fits the cap size on the brake filler. also remember while doing this if you have manual gearbox and hydraulic clutch don't press down on the clutch pedal.
I have a dodge Dakota 92 LE v8 this problem has
Maybe I can help. I had a Chrysler Lebarron V8 that quit on me randomly and it turned out to be the coil resistor on the firewall. I started carrying a spare since it happened so often.
