My 2003 Toyota Camry AC often starts blowing hot air and the AC light starts blinking. I don't know why the following process works, but it does. Using the temp selector (left) reduce the temperature all the way down to Max Cold and then push the Auto button. It will start blowing out very cold air. After a little while push the temp selector to the desired temperature.
CHECK THE AC AND HEATER CONTROL FUSE.MORE LIKELY FUSE BLOWED BECAUSE AC COMPRESSOR COULD HAVE FAILED IF LOW SIDE IS OVER 100 PSI. THE REED VALVE PLATE IN COMPRESSOR PROBABLY DAMAGED CAUSED COMPRESSOR FAILURE BLOWED THE HVAC CONTROLS FUSE. HAVE AC SHOP CHECK IT OUT.
it is needing to be calibrated because of dead battery.i cant remember for sure but i think you had to push rear wiper and recirc buttons at the same time and hold them down a couple of seconds. engine has to be running and at normal operating temp. lights will flash and vents will change heat to cold etc. if it fails any test the lights will just keep blinking untill repaired and recalibrated.
the a/c system needs to be drawn into a vacuum before being charged to make sure there is no air in the system and no major leaks, should really be done by a trained pro to make sure it is done correctly to ensure long service of your a/c system and compressor, most shops have the correct a/c machines to perform this, hope this helps
TO INITIATE TESTS: 1. Set blower to HIGH 2. Set mode position to PANEL (AC vent air) 3. Open all AC outlets 4. Temp. on full cold 5. Start engine 6. Push WASH and REAR WIPER switches for 5 seconds until all panel lights are on solid System will then go through it's paces as it calibrates the climate controls 7. When calibration is complete only the REAR WIPER switch/light should be flashing. Press this switch to extinguish the light This will stops blinking lights.....
The procedure for re-setting the HVAC control panel on a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan follows: With ignition on but not running 1. turn knob to air vents 2. turn fan knob to ON 3. temperature setting on COLD (2X) {I have dual temp controls} 4.
hold top(rear wiper) and bottom (rear wiper with wash) buttons pressing
down together until all the buttons cycle through (this will require 1
to 2 minutes of continuous pressing) I learned this from a very helpful local Dodge service adviser
