1. Drain the cooling system with the engine cold.
CAUTION When draining coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted by ethylene glycol antifreeze, and are quite likely to drink any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain the coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or several years old.

2. Remove the retaining bolts for the thermostat housing. Lift the housing clear and remove the thermostat. It may be easier to clean the gasket mating surfaces with the heater and radiator hoses removed from the thermostat housing.

a blown fuse...

Replace signal flasher unit.

key needs to be in the run position for most cars..or accessory which is one click back towards the driver.

It is located on the left side (drivers side). It is mounted under the dash behind the hood release lever, but not mounted directly on the wall. The front of the box is mounted in a way that it is not easily recognized amongst a few wiring harnesses and electrical components. It has a black cover that is not exactly rectangular and has 1 rounded corner on the bottom left and a round nub located on top of that corner.



I suggest that you use a good light in order to see it. After you accomplish that, you will notice the fuse placement on the front cover referring you back to the owners manual, which you probably don't have because you had to use the web to locate this information, in the first place. I had spend some time also trying to locate this info. This diagram is a possibly a copy of the vehicle's owners manual.

(NOTE: Inside the fuse box cover you will see that Ford has placed a Fuse Blade Puller that resembles a small plastic pair of tweezers. You will also find a set of 5 emergency fuses, which I suggest replacing immediately after you might need one in an emergency. The fuse at the top should be a 5 amp, next one down should be a 10 amp, next one on the left and down is a 15 amp, on it's right is a 20 amp then lastly, below, is a 30 amp. Only replace the fuses with its proper replacement to avoid electrical fires)

Flash Code 16 from a 1993 Ford Aerostar Rear ABS unit means that the system is functioning correctly without any faults.However, it should NOT be testing and flashing ANYTHING while you are driving unless the test connector/circuit is grounded or if there is an immediate system fault. The test connector is located behind the left side of the instrument panel and is taped (or at least, it USED to be) to the wiring harness. It is a BLACK connector with 2 mating halves. One has a BLACK/ORANGE wire and the other has a RED wire.Inspect the connector to make sure it is plugged in and not corroded. Also check the wires to make sure they are not damaged or grounding inadvertently.Make sure you are counting the number of flashes correctly. A fault code will be a series of short flashes followed by one long flash. For example, short, short, long, indicates a code 3. If more than one fault is present, it will output the lowest number code first. It will repeat itself until the ignition is turned off. For example: short, short, long, short, short, short, long, would indicate two seperate codes, code 3 and code 4, NOT a code 7, which would be indicated by six shorts and one long.

It will be located on the one of the valve covers.

Fuel pump is most likely in the gas tank. Wiring harness would be attached to it.

I would replace the fuel filter first then go from there .. Could be a few things causing bad fuel delivery

Replace your daytime running lights module.

Its a faulty door jam switch.

Starter solenoid may be faulty or a short between the battery connection and the ignition connection on the solenoid.

To me it sounds like your fan belt is loose and would just require re-tensioning.
