If heater core is bad they will restrict flow thru heater or they will leak. Most probable repair is replace water pump. the impeller is made of stamped steel and the erode and pump less coolant thru system. Use quality repair parts. it cost just as much to to install new quality pump an\s a inferior pump or used pump.
Hello Kelsey Warman,
Looks like 1997 was the last year they were DESIGNATED
... 3.0L or 4.0L V6 engine...?
See below New purchase price at rockauto is about $90..
In case you are wondering: The first place to evaluate the condition of the ENGINE... or CURE an OIL PRESSURE
problem is not the OIL PUMP.
You might seriously consider getting another mechanic
to evaluate the condition of the engine BEFORE starting to pour money into OIL PRESSURE ISSUES...
Like BOTTOM LINE COST of this pump... ($$)
and the next cost... if the "pump" solution fails ($$$$).
I'm just guessing
