Power window not working
Window fuse's and relay's may be up under driver or passenger side dash or behind glove box, under the hood and even under the seats, and finally on the ends of the dash. All passenger power windows and locks are controlled thru and get power from the master control switch on the drivers door.Drivers door window gets used the most so it could be the motor, window switch, relay or fuse.Could also be a broken wire in the rubber boot going from the door to the body. You will have to eliminate each till you find the culprit. Check that all switches return to neutral when released. The motor and the relay are the most likely to cause this problem. Try swapping the relay with a working window relay. If it still doesn't work, remove the door panel and remove the window motor.Turn the motor shaft in both directions by hand several turns. Then plug the motor in and see if the switch will now run the motor. Sometimes that's all it takes to get it working again. I have had to do this with brand new motors. If voltage is not present at the motor connector, either a bad switch or a broken wire exists. Make sure to check for voltage coming to that windows switch. Actually, GM use's a circuit breaker type relay for each window and one fuse for all the circuit breakers.Try this....Open the door, turn the key to the ON position without starting the engine and everything that makes noise is off. Lean down placing your ears close to the bottom center of the door or at the speaker grill. Press the window switch UP and DOWN. Listen for the window motor. If heard the drive is damaged. If not heard, turn key off and locate and replace the relay with one of the other window relays. Check window again. If it works now, get a new relay. More often than not, removing the motor and turning it by hand will get it working good as new. I have had to do that with Brand New motors! So try it.If all has failed, with the door panel still off, check for voltage at the motor connector when pushing the window switch. No voltage means its the switch, especially if its a auto down or up switch.
1992 chevy C1500: Heat works on low speed, no medium, and high only works intermittantly.
On any other vehicle it sounds like the blower fan switch. The fan switch provides power or ground to the resistor and there would be a high speed blower relay to bypass the resistor. But in your case the fan switch is part of the controller. I don't have a diagram for a 92 but the 94 model shows relays for low medium and high speeds. Each relay gets power from a fuseable link. The high relay gets power thru the low relay if the low relay is not engaged. If you have the model with 3 relays you may need to check them.
Runs then just cuts off
if your car have sensor, replace oil sensor, or try to disconnect the oil sensor then start the engine, or make sure the water and oil level are ok
HOW DO I DRAIN POWER STERING FLUID
Use a turkey baster, or similar suction tool to empty the reservoir of fluid. And, or take off the PS return line into the reservoir, and drain it into a container. Run the engine and turn wheels back and forth slowly to drain the lines. But most people just empty the reservoir and refill with new fluid-the little fluid remaining will just mix with the new fluid.
1992 chevy c1500 can i put stops leak for cracked head
The stop leak doesn't do for cracked cylinder head. The thing you have to use is the block solder liquid and that would do the job. First read well the instructions and then you do it if you can. If not ask a mechanic to check your problem first and after confirmation do what has to be done.
1992 Chevy truck will not shift out of Park
Your ignition switch, when in run position, pushes a rod which releases a lock on the shifter linkage in the steering column. Your problem probably lies in the activation of the rod. murf427
Trans I.D. by vin code
I can tell you what engine is suppose to be in it by the VIN. I can tell you what transmission you have if you can describe the shape of the bottom pan. As far as the engine that you have that is tough. The engine size should be stamped on the rear of the engine near the distributor near where the engine and transmission meet. Rectangular pan 4 speed= 700r4 Pan like the state of Illinois, 3 speed= TH400 Squared off in front, tapers on both sides to the rear and slopes up to the rear, 4 speed=4L80E These are the only transmissions that were factory installed in a 1992 C1500. If it looks different let me know. You never know what someone has installed.
Fuel gauge dontwork
The most common and in most cases the only cause of a fuel gauge not working is that the fuel level sending unit inside the fuel tank is defective, this is very common on 90's cars and light trucks using gas engines, the reason? The new clean burning gasoline fuels cause problems with premature wear of the sweep hand over the resistor.
