This is a long shot but what if you replace the blown fuse with the drivers door in the open position. If the running lights come on and stay on slowly close the door. If the lights go out/fuse blows I wouldn't hesitate to check the harness to the door in between the door and the a pillar. There is a lot of flew in that area and it is has a been a problem for chrysler products for as long as I can remember. I’m happy to assist further over the phone at

Idle bonce's from low to real high when in park,
Need fairly good spark plugs
Clean Rotor and Cap
Next you go to the Air Idle Control Valve,at base of throttle body
Then check TPS Sensor
Having owned a trans repair shop in the past, I can't help you there.
If it is original 19 years old, pull and rebuild.

Hi Cheryl; On regular v belts it's always good to start with the front belt and work your way back, then mark the belts you have in the order you pulled off in. Making diagrams is the best way Not to have problems it is easy to get confused which belt go where. Please Make A Diagram that you can use carefully identifing which pullys for which belt. Also check belts for cracking slight cracking is ok but cracks you can easily see is better to replace while you have them off than break down later and kick yourself for not replacing them then, if it's been a while since they were replaced do it now.

Starting issue with a 1991 dodge dakota with a 318
You may have a bad engine ground to the frame. Check & clean any ground wire connections. Also there may be a ballast resistor mounted on the firewall &/Or the starter that has cracked. This will only allow the truck to start in dry conditions. Make sure your red starter cable is not frayed & in good condition & clean the connections at the battery & starter. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Assuming the switch is not the problem, check the bundle of wires that come through the firewall next to the brake fluid reserve. I suspect you have a dead short that needs to be fixed

If anything but brake fluid was installed , anything rubber will be dammaged , power steering
fluid looks just like brake fluid but , its deadly for a brake system.
I hope you dont have antilock brakes , if so the unit may need replacement , as will
all rubber hoses, wheel cylinders , master cylinder , calipers .
If you catch it early enough , flushing the system may help.
It sounds like its too late in your case.
sorry.

You need to figure out which one you are losing. You are either losing fuel, or spark. When the engine quits, immediately open the hood, and check for spark. Let us know what you find. Good luck!

A plug on the side of the tranny will be the filler, If you have a drain plug in the bottom, If not, you will have two on the side, lower is level, upper is fill. Most manual trannys never get checked or filled, they go for life without the oil being changed. check it out.

Hello, My 1991 dodge dakato
Mess with the TPS( Code 24)
The center wire, is the sensor wire or output back to the computer.
One of the two outside wires,is 5 volts coming to the sensor, and the other goes on and on to other sensors.
If you probe one outer wire at a time with red lead of a VOM and black to any metal (ground) you will find one with 5 volts. Leave your probe on it and move the blk to the center sensor wire.
Move the throttle and see if you have 1volt closed, close to 5v open.
May end up putting in a new sensor. 19 years old.
No issues with what you did so far, wires, etc.
