1989 Buick LeSabre - Page 3 Questions & Answers
Pedel goes to the floor no brakes at all
Check on the inner side of each wheel to make sure there is no leaking fluid. If there is, check the lines leading to the brakes and replace them where needed (hose is cheap at your local autoparts store).
If it's not holding the fluid, it's coming out somewhere. Find the leak, fix the hose (hopefully) or replace the part (hopefully not).
I changed the cam sensor in my 1989 Lesabre. how do i reset the service engine soon light?
That one is old enough that you should be able to disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes to reset the computer. I would not be surprised if the light came back on shortly after doing this. The cam sensors rarely fail. It is more likely that the magnetic "cam button" has fallen off the camshaft pulley. The button is what the cam sensor is looking for. If the button is missing than the cam sensor has nothing to read and the check engine light comes on. To check and see if the cam button is missing you can pull the cam sensor. Use a mirror to look through the hole. Rotate the crankshaft by hand with the key off for two complete revolutions. You should see the cam button move through the opening at some point. Good luck! Where do I find the fuel pump relay for a 89 Buick Lesabre limited
The relay should be in the engine compartment on the firewall under the windshield. There may be several relays in a cluster and they are not marked. You would check the circuits the relay uses, or just replace it with a new relay. Some of the other relays can be switched for a test if they have the same type plug.
How many quarts of oil in 89 buick lesabre?
Should be about 4. When you add 4, then park the car on a level surface, and wait about 15 minutes, and then check the level with the dipstick. The low line and the full line are 1 quart apart.Be blessed.
Why wont my 1989 buick lesabre wont start ?
Does it crank? Or there's no crank no start? If it cranks safely get under the vehicle and bang on the fuel tank while someone holds the key in the crank position with the vehicle in park. If it starts it is most likely the fuel pump.
My transmission switches terribly hard between 2 and 3, and I sometimes have to push on the gas to push through the tension.. What should I do? Junk it?
Hello
The
engine and the automatic transmission in this vehicle are computer
controlled and in most cases when a fault occurs a fault code is
stored in the memory of the computer control module. There are
exception to this, such as the Mass Airflow Meter and fuel pressure
problems. What must be done is to have all the basic testing done
such as a scan of the system for fault codes as well as a check with
a live data scanner tool for engine functions that are not within
range of normal, a trained technician is required to know what is
correct and what isn't, then based on careful diagnostics done from
a factory repair manual the correct part is replaced or the wiring
repaired or the computer replaced (known as the PCM), which is very
rarely the problem. Other basic checks must be done as well such as
mechanical problems with the engine as well as engine state of tune
and mileage on the engine. The transmission can have mechanical
issues as well such as no gear engagement at all or a failed pump or
other pressure related problems.
Engine computer
Could be a faulty spark plug, or an injector, among other things. Could be a sticking valve too.
