Will ubuntu work with hard drives that have

Advanced Format drives are supported by linux distributions running kernel 2.6.31 or higher, though for best results 2.6.34 is recommended.Ubuntu has shipped with support for advanced format drives since Ubuntu 9.10, so if you are setting up a new system with the latest Ubuntu 11.04, you shouldn't experience any problems. For more information, you may want to have a read of Western Digital's customer service article about support for advanced format drives in Linux; http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5655You may also want to review the list of kernels included in various Ubuntu distributions in the wikipedia article at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ubuntu_releases#Version_history_of_common_programsIf you are considering upgrading an existing system, you can find out what kernel you are running by enteringuname -rat the command prompt.

The operating system that I used in my computer is

the Ubuntu ISO that you choose for you pc needs to be selected (x86 for normal 32 bit pc or x64 for 64bit devices ) download the ISO and burn to cd or DVD your choice. when you running XP insert the disk and it gives you a option to install aside xp or to partition the drive to add ubuntu separately or to do a clean install ( wiping everything ) or boot up with it and it will help partition the XP drive to install alongside xp to do a dual boot.. this can be easy or hard id get a tutorial on this. but the clean install is the easiest and best it wipes out the drive and I'm almost sure everything will work when it comes on look up the model laptop and ubuntu 11.04(newest ) all my devices work all the time and the software is awesome as well as free and virus freegood luck google installing ubuntu for noobs

Upgrade Ubuntu Desktop to Server

You would need to reformat and create a fresh install. You cannot upgrade one from the other, because there are too many changes. I suggest that you backup all of your files and then reformat the computer and install the server version.

You need to find the linux version of the print driver. An .rpm file would be the best bet, otherwise you can install Wine and install your original driver.

Hi there, I have just installed 7.10 and I would

11.04 is the most stable and current version. You can upgrade from 7 to it with a thumb drive, and an installed program.Go to the Ubuntu Website and download 11.04 iso.Download and install UNetBootin.Insert your thumbdrive, format it.Open UNetBootin. Select "Disk Image" then locate the location of the 11.04 iso you downloaded. Then at the bottom, select your thumbdrive, and click OKThis will then get your thumbdrive bootable, and install 11.04 too it.Once that's done. Shut down your computer, boot from the thumbdrive, and follow the upgrade instructions.Best part, about "Upgrade". It'll 99% of the time keep your documents intact and just update the software.

Beryl on Ubuntu

Usually when the video of an app starts to mess up, that means either the video card you have in the computer isn't up to the standards for the app. Or your having RAM issues. You may need to install more ram so the app can actually work without flaws. Sure, linux is designed to take the best performance of what it has to work with. However some apps are designed specifically for top of the line systems.

How do I access windows

Linux and Windows I'm sure you know are two totally separate platforms of Operating System's. Meaning their applications and programs are not cross compatible with one another.However. Ubuntu has over 33000 free programs that are just like Windows programs. They can read and access pdf's. avi's, wmv's and all the other things that you might need.Since the question isn't completely clarified here. I'm gonna say you can just download Ubuntu's versions of programs. Or... Install what they call a Virtual Machine and "emulate" a Windows system, download the windows programs, and run it like a standard MS System.

I'vre downloaded Ubuntu onto a USB stick but

You have to boot from the key to get Ubuntu to work. Turn the computer off and plug the USB key in. Then turn on the computer again. If everything was good you'll see Ubuntu. If not you need to change your bios settings so your computer tries to boot from USB or you need to remake your Ubuntu USB key.Bios settings depend on what computer you have, you should see something flash quickly on the screen durnin start up saying press del or esc to change bios.To remake your USB download the Ubuntu you need and this PROGRAM .Just follow the prompts.Feel free to contact me if you need further help.RegardsTickMagnet

Running in low graphics (i accidently removed

Ubuntu is a smart program when it wants to be. Most of the time if you accidently remove a system driver all you have to do is just restart the machine. and usually it'll come backIf that fails, do a reinstall of the OS. It does give the option to install it and keep the media files, ie; pics, videos, music, and other documents. Those are the 2 easiest methods to fix that sort of problem

How to authenicate to open

Ubuntu doesn't have a code. When you install it, you had to enter your own password. That's most likely what it's asking for.If you have forgotten your password. You can easily just reinsert the cd, reinstall it, then pick a password you can rememberThen once your in, you can make it auto log on. Where you don't have to enter your password to sign on.However, you will need to enter the password if you ever want to install, UN-install, or tweak the system settings.
