Ubuntu 12.04 unstable crashes on updates
If it crashes on updates it indicates compatability issues with your system or unstable as you pointed out, only option is to disable updates in order to continue using it.

here) or directly to the download page (
here) and choose desktop or server.If you don't want to loose your Windows installation, you can also download the "Windows Installer" (wubi) from
here. That installs ubuntu like any other program and you can remove it if you don't like it. More information can be found

Disk drive is not present
Hi james,Regardless of What windows you have Follow the instructions Below.- Click on Start, All Programs, Click Run- On the lower left hand side the Open Field should show, clear it and type in Regedit then Click on OK or Press Enter- Regedit Windows will open-follow the path - click the + or Arrow on the left of the path > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}- Once you get to the Last Path this is the DVD/CD-Rom on the right window, Look for upper and lower filters "Which ever is present" and deleted both if available or any of the 2Upper and Lower Filters.Once deleted close all the windows you opened and restart the computer.I hope this will help regarding your concern.

Install a good player to play your videos.. and also update your video & sound drivers.. use a system utility tool like Reginout to fix this problem.
Just installed Ubuntu Server. I need a graphical user interface, and downloaded one but computer still boots to dos-like interface. I don't know Linux commands. How to get GUI?

you need to go to the Ubuntu web sit and down load the iso image to your computer ether the 64 bit or the 32 bit it demands what your computer is running then burn that to disk then restart your computer and make shore it boots up to your CD drive first and just follow the on screen instruction make shore you down load the desktop version not the [server]

I keep getting a popup telling me my acidbase
i would go to Ubuntu software center uninstall it and use Ubuntu tweak to clean any renaming software then reinstall with all the add-ons if you already done this still uninstall and use the synaptic packge manager to install my real advise is to remove it anyway you dont need it. its a security engine, the application provides alerts from a Snort ids system
