The harddrive I think you mean used to be Windows, and you want to go back to Windows?Your gonna have to get a copy of Windows and reinstall it. Let it do the format and partition it's way. most usb modems are set up for windows by default so you have to ask the usb modem provider for the ubuntu driver..

You can use something like Super Fdisk to delete all partitions on your drive. Sometime Linux will not see a Windows partition and vice versa. You can find Super FDisk here:

To enable a cube desktop in Linux, you must have Compiz installed. Open a terminal and type in

sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager

When prompted, enter your password. When it is finished installing, go to the "System" menu, then go to "Prefences" then go to "Advanced Desktop Effects" and check the box next to "Rotate Cube".

Go to the bottom, right click. A menu should come up ... Select a more appropriate option. It may be that you "dragged" the bar below the display area. If this is the case, go down there and drag it back up.

You Need to go to system; administration; Hardware Drivers. It will search for any available 3rd party drivers for the sound card

try to download adobe reader instead. It does the same thing but better than viewer

Fire up the terminal and type in Quote: sudo apt-get install rar
sudo ln -fs /usr/bin/rar /usr/bin/unrar the item would be in the Applications -> Accessories -> Archive Manager menu. Or when you right click a rar archive you can extract to the desired location

Re: After update ubuntu 10.4 won't boot Many people seem to be having issues with the new Ubuntu kernel. First - boot into recovery, and run "aptitude purge psb-kernel-source". It should remove the buggy old version. Also remove /etc/x11/xorg.conf (but do a backup first, poulsbo-config should install it but always play safe).
Second - reinstall the latest kernel. I am on 2.6.32-24, and it works well on my 1101HA.
Third - reinstall the packages - "sudo apt-get install psb-kernel-source"; if not enough, do also a "sudo apt-get install poulsbo-driver-2d poulsbo-driver-3d poulsbo-config".

If it still fails, please post the errors you get when installing the packages.

Also, as a last resource you can do:

If you need to run a root terminal the run the terminal, enter your password and type sudo -i at the command line>
