The DV6000 series units come with
SATA Hard Drives and are
apted to go south now and then.!
Before
replacing the HD I would clear the
CMOS and check HD
thru BIOS utility.
This utility will in most cases take about 1hr. if you have a standard size HD. Longer if larger, anyway, it will tell you before you start and if the dive fails, you will know soon enough. This sounds like a boot
partition problem in your HD but you have 2, 1 in the front and 1 at the end, that may just be
corrupt.
If you have not formated drive since you have purchased the unit, you may still be able to re-install from the restoration partition.
If not you will have to replace hard drive and install from restoration disks. HP offers these disks for the 6000 series units for about $15.00 US
You will have to update your BIOS if you have not done so already. You can check to verison by hitting F10 at first screen.
P.S. SATA drives are cheep enough about $60-85 depending upon size.
Take care Good Luck
