For tha particular error you are facing, here is the reason. These printers have a switch that triggers an interrupt when the toner door is closed. Usually there is an arm on the door that pushes the switch. It is quite sensitive and delicate. Then sometimes there is a tab on the printer's toner and if that breaks off then that error will be generated.

But in your case as you have not removed or inserted the toner, I think option 1 is applicable to you.

Now, if this printer is in warranty you should send it to HP for Free repair/replacement.

You can download the basic Driver from the vendor's site, the installation instructions are simple download the driver from the link I've provided below, after downloading, run the file its a self-extracting process. Click to accept the terms in the license agreement. Click Next. Driver installation begins. Driver files are pre-installed during this process. A screen pops up to prompt to connect the USB cable. I dont know if you have or not but you could go to the hp websight and let them detect you printer and see if that will work.Hope this helps. Ken

It doesn't sound like your problem is with the printer, it sounds like your problem is with the USB drivers for the motherboard. Look in Control Panel and click on System, then click on the Tab that's says Hardware, From there click on Hardware Devices, and when it opens look down on the Systems configuration area and look for a ! in a triangle. If you find one then the problem is the driver. You'll need to go to the manufacturer's site for that Motherboard and download a new USB controller driver, or sometimes there call Chipsets drivers. And that should fix your USB port, if the drivers aren't the problem, then could have a faulty motherboard. Try putting something else that you knows works into that same USB port to see if you get the same response. That will let you know if it's the motherboard, or it could be the Printer or the Cable that your using to connect to.

Yes it is a print driver problem, Unplug usb, delete all previous attemps at install, delete print software and drivers, Download and install correct driver from HP, plug in usb only when directed to do so.
