Hi Have a Dell Pc Windows 7 OS. it will not shut down unless I hold the button. Start-up in good shut down is always a problem

You can reset and reinstall OS by inserting the Reinstallation disk.

Go to the website www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/ and download the windows 7 upgrade advisor to check the components which are not compatible and also check whether your Processor support 32 bit or 64 bit OS.If it does not support the 64 Bit Os ,the only option will be to set up the machine using 32 bit OS win7.

i am not sure i understand.. what OS did you have originally ? id you isntalled Windows 7 recently, did you format the hard disk drive entirely ?
have you downloaded all the drivers (audio, video, BIOS, etc..) go to the link below to get the drivers
usually a blue screen could be that teh memoryt module(s) are not seated properly. shut down the notebook, remove the battery, remove the memory modeule plastic door, remove the memory module one a timne and reseat them properly. replace the battery, start up the computer after plugging in the AC adapter .
does it show blue screen ? if so, download all the drivers from the link i provided.

Hi, you have one or more corrupted programs whitch are not closing down. You could try uninstalling any software installed since the problem started, or reset your os to a previos time when it worked properly; to do this start in safe mode by pressing the ESC button during boot up

Hi, Due to false shut down, your windows has been corrupted. You need to install the new OS and format the PC. The new OS will fix the problem. And do remember always that never do a false shutdown.

The problem of your laptop is that once it has been attacked by a virus. In that very case that virus may be removed but the damage it has made to your OS cannot be restored unless you format your laptop with Windows XP/Vista.
Or next best reason may be problem with your laptop RAM.

Hi your system is infected with a Worm which does not allow the comp to shutdown and power-off . An antivirus software could correct this or in my opinion cleaning the hard disk by formatting it and reinstalling the OS would be better option.
