I've had the Dell 1720dn at my desk for years. Worked flawlessly. Moved it to a different workstation and it began beeping immediately while printing. Another site said to plug it directly into the wall, instead of a battery backup. I unplugged it from the battery backup outlet, and plugged into a surge protector only outlet on the same battery backup unit.... NO MORE BEEPING. Hope this helps someone else.
The beeping you hear is from your surge protection (ups) not the printer in my case. I have an apc ups and moved the plug to "surge protection only" port and everything working fine. the batter backup isn't strong enough to handle the load of the printer.
This beeping noise cannot be silenced. Sorry to tell you. Just a bad design.

Same problem here.
I checked the Dell website and there is no mention of anything that would create noises on that model printer. Is the noise that you hear the from a speaker in the printer? or from a mechanical type source?
