Belkin Wireless Modem Router, model F5D7634-4.

I just recently bought a Belkin Wireless Modem Router, model F5D7634-4. After 3 hours of using it, i'm unable to access the webpage unless i reset the system. I will get the error msg unable to connect to page. In the meantime i still can surf the net.

Also, the Belkin unit has died twice since i started using it this morning. I'm using cable connection. As far as i have notice, all the lights were lighted up. I just couldn't surf the net on a cabled pc or a wireless laptop hence the router probably died. No idea why.

If the reset did not help ,i would suggest you talk to the Belkin Support team and get a replacement. Since its a new router, I assume it has an up to date firmware .

-Unable to access the router's webpage. -The router is 'trying' connect to modem (modem light flashing, internet light off) despite the fact it's already connected.

Have to unplug router and modem to reset both for approx. 2 min. Then plug in modem first let that reset and all lights come back on (except router light) then when that has finished booting do the same with the router. It should work.

Please follow the below steps,
(1) What type of cable you are using between your Belkin Wireless Router. If you are using a cross cable which I suspect then replace it with a straight cable. You can easily get it from Computer hardware stores and sometimes in super markets. If you do not know how to check weather a cable is straight or cross please look at the connectors of both sides of the cable from downside up. If the position of small tiny colorful wires are identical in both connectors than it is straight which we need. If the position is not identical than it is cross cable and we do not need it. It will not work properly for you.
(2) You should set the IP address to automatic in My Network/Network properties. The same for DNS.
(3) You should know the IP of the Belkin Wireless router and you should be able to ping it with the cable on.

This much configuration is required from the PC side.

(1) If you look carefully around the Belkin Wireless router you will find a pin whole. This pin whole is used to reset the settings to default by poking a pointed object like a pin. Make sure the wireless router remains powered on during this.
(2)After this if you still face connectivity problems. Try replacing with another Wireless Router just to check if the connectivity or QoS improves. If it does, you can be sure that the problem is with your Belkin wireless router.

Good Luck!

HOW CAN I RESET MY NETWORK KEY PASSWORD?

Steps to find a WEP key:

1. Open a browser (the program used to access the internet).

2. Type the following into the address bar of the browser. If using a Belkin router type "192.168.2.1". The address bar is the area where webpages are typed. It is important when typing in that there is NO www. before the numbers, but do put http://

3. If all has gone well this should open a page that says Belkin.

3. There may be the need to login. When using a Linksys if you don't know what the username and password are it may still be the factory settings, and so enter in "admin" for the username and "password" for the password. If using a Belkin router, the factory settings often come with no password, so just click submit without typing in a password.

4. Click on a) "Wireless" or b) "settings".

5. Click on a) "Wireless security" or b) "wireless settings".

6. There should be a page with a WEP key listed.

7. Write it down/copy and use as you wish!

You said that the Internet connection is dropping. It is a modem *** router.
If there is any MTU settings , then reduce the MTU.
For example If MTU is 1500 then reduce it to 1400.
Otherwise you will need to upgrade the Firmware of the router.

I have recently bought a Belkin Wireless Router and I am unable to connect to the Internet on my laptop. What do I need to do to connect my laptop to the internet using the Belkin Wireless router?

your Internet modem or router needs to be connected to the Belkin router's WAN port with an ethernet cable. You'll then need to configure the belkin's wireless settings, it's usually a very easy "follow the prompts" kind of setup.

Networking

You actually have a couple of issues here. Fix these in this order. 1.) Login to router and turn off wireless (if you're not wanting to use wireless) 2.) Connect the ADSL modem CAT5 port to the WAN port of the Belkin router. 3.) Login to router and turn on NAT and make sure DHCP is enabled. 4.) On your Windows machine turn on DHCP under the network settings. This should allow your connection to be setup automatically and stop wireless access on the Belkin router. Let me know if you need more help. JC
