No scan option, i know it works, it worked on another pc / also software will not download to my brand new fast computer

If the software driver is not complete, you can download here: You must select first the operating system and look below the drivers.

First of all, the HP C6380 must be connected locally from the PC that you are using. You can then use the scan option from your printer or scan option from the control panel of your system.

There is no need to scan the computer. You just uninstall the copying software like teracopy and reinstall it. It works.

When you buy an all in one machine (which is a printer that has other options like fax or scan) and connect it to your pc, you can control the features from both sources. That means that you can push the button to scan on the printer to get it to work, or choose the scan option in the software installed on the pc to do the same thing.

How do you use the "scan" function?

If you want to scan by pushing the button on the printer, you need to configure the options in the printers menu that tell it what to do and where to send the image before it will work.

If you want to scan by clicking on a button shown on your computer screen, then you need to install the printers software to configure the options and make it work.

So which one do you want to do?

I can walk you through configuring the scan options on your printer or help you locate the software to install on your pc and explain how to use it to scan.

Regardless of the choice above, you will need the printers drivers installed and the software too. So first question would be, do you have the software and is it installed? You have to load the HP software and run it.

You will need to use the TWAIN software for the printer. From the computer you will be running the scan options thru the TWAIN software. Then the scan files will be pulled from the printer back to the computer. Running scan options directly from the printer will give you the option to print the scan files or send them to a memory card if your printer has a slot for one. Transfer all the information you want in your new computer into a flash drive or an external hard drive.

Uninstall and reinstall the software. Normally the software installed on the computer controls the scanner functions for the all in one dell stuff. Check dells site also for any updates that might correct this issue.
