SOURCE: How to configure printer on wireless network

On the computer with the printer hooked up to it:
Start
Run
Type 'cmd'
Type 'ipconfig' in the command prompt that appears
Take note of the 'IP Address'
Close this window out
Start
Control Panel
Printers and Faxes
Right Click the printer you want to share
Sharing
Sharing Tab
Bubble in Share this printer
Take note of the printer name
Hit OK

On the computer that you want the printer to work on, that is another place on the network:
Start
Control Panel
Printers and Faxes
Add a Printer, Next
A Network Printer, Next
Bubble in 'connect to this printer'
In the 'Name' field, type in \\xxx.xxx.x.xxx\printer name
---Where the X's are the IP address from the original computer and the printer name is the shared name that took note of when sharing the printer on the computer that it is directly hooked up to. Do not forget the backslashes. More than likely, it'll look like: \\192.168.1.100\HPPhoto or something along those lines.
Click Next
Decide if you want that printer to be the default printer or not, Next
And that's it.
Try to print a test page.

  2. Wait for the Installation Wizard to appear.
  3. Click the "Next" button to continue and go through each screen to install the software for the printer.
  4. Select the option to "Configure printer driver now" on the last screen of the Installation Wizard.
  5. Click the "OK" button when the Information dialog box appears.
  6. Select the printer port for your printer when the Printer Port Setup dialog box appears.
  7. Click the "OK" button when the "addport" dialog box appears.
  8. Click the "Next" button to continue.
  9. Select your wireless printer from the list of installed printers when the Add Printer Wizard window appears.
  10. Click the "Next" button to continue.

Cannot print from Word Perfect 11 or Quattro to Xerox Phaser 85

It is the print setting in WP. As I'm sure you know, Corel products like to take control of everything. If your document is configure to print to an HP printer, for example, it won't print to another printer unless you change it in the Print settings within the document.

SCANNER SAYING NO USER ID

This means that you have not set up any users in the address book in the printer.

Copy is simple, it will scan the document and print out a copy of the scanned image.

Scan however, is trying to make and store an image file of the scan, but it needs to know WHERE you want to scan it to. The printer does not know where to send the stored image unless you create a storage location for it. This is done with the address book that is stored on the printer.

The material below is how to set up the scanner settings of the printer.

Printer Settings Utility Using the Printer Settings Utility window, you can set up the fax system data options, and create and edit Phonebook entries from your computer. You can also configure the destination launches when you access Scan and then PC.
When you install the Dell software, the Printer Settings Utility is automatically installed.
For information about installing the software, see "Installing Software in Windows".
To open the Printer Settings Utility:
  1. Click Start software25.jpg Programs software25.jpg DELL software25.jpg DELL Printers software25.jpg DELL Laser MFP 1815 software25.jpg Printer Settings Utility.
