Instead of just scanning all four pages in the input with one press of the scan button, I have to press the scan button four separate times. This is something just started. It always used to just empty the hopper.
SOURCE: scanning...
What do you mean scan? Is it from the printer to the computer? Or just plain copy? When you want to scan to the computer, you need a software that can scan multiple pages. HP's document feeder can copy and fax multiple pages, so if the software supports multiple pages scanning, then I'm sure it can.
SOURCE: I can't figure out how to scan multiple pages to one file
Hi There !!
Thank you for choosing fixya.com
It is possible to scan different batches
scanned from the ADF into one PDF file. When loading more pages in the
ADF after the first realm is finished, it asks if you want to continue
scanning to the same file. After that, it will continue scanning to the
same file. However, this feature can be selected in the Adobe Acrobat
application itself. From HP software, if we load the paper after one
realm of paper in the ADF is finished, it will scan the second realm to
a different file.
If you want to continue scanning to the
same file, you need to have either Acrobat Exchange or Adobe Acrobat
installed on the computer. Adobe Reader will not provide this feature.
After installing either Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Exchange, perform the following steps to scan pages to a single file:
Still unable to figure out, How to do this? Here are some tutorial on HP website that might help.
NOTE:
Scanning multiple pages
causes each page to append to the previously scanned page. If you have
multiple pages, but want them to be in different files, click Done
after each page to create separate files.

Hope this would help.

SOURCE: HP C6180 will NOT scan multiple pages into one file
If you want to scan multiple pages, go to HP Scan Pro, click on the SCAN menu, and then make sure that "Documents" is checked under "New Scan." This will allow you to scan multiple pages and it will scan black n white or color...whatever you place on the glass.

Open your Adobe Acrobat (e.g., 9.0 Pro), load your pages into the document feeder (fewer than 30 at a time), then ask Adobe Acrobat to create PDF from scanner (File/Create PDF/From Scanner). Canon MP530 as the scanner and click OK. Works like a charm!
SOURCE: don't know how to set scanner for multiple page scan into single pdf file
The supplied Canon software is horrible, but it can be done!
Launch ScanGearStarter, choose advanced tab and click preferences button, then select scan tab.
Untick box "Automatically quit ScanGear....." then click ok.
(This box being ticked totally prevents multipage single file scanning).
Now choose simple mode tab, select the document type, dpi and document size.
Now click the green "Multi Scan" button, place the document on the scanner glas and press next in the new window.
The page will be scanned and the ScanGear window will return, just click "Multi Scan" again and place next document, press next. Keep repeating until all pages are scanned, then close the ScanGear window.
This will bring up a third window showing thumbnails of each page, any of these pages can be deselected if required.
The other important step is to choose from the pull down list Saved as Type: "MultiPagePDF".
Choose the location for saving the file and click save.
Hallelujah! .......stupid software.
