Possible vacuum leak, Throttle positioning sensor, idle speed solenoid, Other possibilities too. Don't let it do that for too long, severe engine damage can occur.

SOURCE: reving up to 3000 rpms from idle

Check all your vacuum hoses especially the larger ones like the one from the brake booster to the intake. Check them for cracks of see if they're broken. Also spray WD-40 or carb. cleaner on the intake manifold where it meets the cylinder head. If the idle changes, you have a vacuum leak there.

yes propane or carb spray will work, just spray around the entire intake area and all vacuum hoses, if u hit a vacuum leak the engine idle will change.

EGR valve may be stuck closed allowing pinging . The Knock sensor can also go bad and not retard timing allowing pinging also . Heavy carbon buildup in the combustion chamber can increase compression causing pinging .

MY 1995 EAGLE VISION STALLS OUT , IT STARTS UP FINE BUT AFTER IT WARMS UP AND YOU TAKE IT FOR A RIDE IT WILL STALL OUT

Find the EGR valve. Look up on the internet what it looks like and where it is located for your car. There will be a vacuum hose attached to it. start the car when the engine is cold. when it gets to running temperature and starts to stall, pull the vacuum line off. If the EGR is bad, the car will keep running and idle will return to normal.

Had the battery replaced and now the engine idles at 300 rpms.

try disconnecting the battery for about 15 minutes, sometimes this will clear false codes. Reconnect battery and let it idle for a few min. Some cars have to recognize how a car is driven and idled for a certain amount of time. This info is then stored into the (brain) of the car. It may just have your signal from the throttle position sensor messed up and hopefully this will work.

My car is idling way too fast. I can't get it to

Sounds like your IAC (idle air control). Its located on the throttle body.
