Its depending on the brand, and if you have cartridges with or without integrated printheads, with integrated printheads its much easyer and it spills less ink, but the cleaning you can mean not the clean function on the printer self but to clean with a cartridge flush , i have done it several times with a coffee saucer with some lukewarm tap water, years ago by canon printers perfect but there is the loose printhead but there is a special flush-alcohol for if its clogged but after that if you print not much you can then best printhead thus it maintained flush him briefly just after the changing of cartridges and especially if you himself refilled it keeps closing rubbers clean where the cartridges are placed so that it stays clean , but as soon if a printhead is for a more then short time glogged if it is dry the printhead fails due to lack of cooling most times the refill can comes too late. but if only neccesary to clean when clogged nozzles use always a good special cartridge flush

What is wrong with my Epson R280 printer when the ink appears smeared down columns of a spreadheet

Probably dirty heads on the nozzle. In most inkjets there is a maintenance option to clean the heads. I would first clean the heads, and then make sure that the print heads were aligned. If that is all squared away then check for any driver or firmware updates. Finally get some rubbing alcohol and gently clean the print head. Sometimes if the printer is not used that often the ink will congeal and smear.

I have problems aligning printer heads on my Canon i850. I have clean the printer heads, replaced cartdridges, re-aligned them, but I still get lines through the printed material (phots mostly). No...

Please try to uninstall and reinstall your printer.

Clean your printer heads.

Perform a hard reset to your printer.

Print a test page.

Try using a different bond paper.

Make sure you are using original canon cartridge

If still you get an error. Replace your printer heads.

Have replaced all cartridges but will now only print in black white and pink

What printer do you have? Clean heads, clean heads, clean heads, etc. Then do the test print to see if the heads are open. I had similar problem with an Epson, had to clean the heads often, finally got to where the heads wouldn't clean so threw it away and bought another one (HP this time, the heads are included in the ink carts, haven't had to clean the heads at all.)

Have Kodak Easyshare5300..installed new ink and still it is print very lightly..hard to read it

try to clean your printer:

the printer have its built in program,try to see its utility mode and click clean printer heads
do it 3times;

if the problem is still there...try to clean heads manually
(but 1rst be carefull to damage the heads and the printer must be unplug while you're cleaning it)
get some cottonbuds and dip it to hot water{hot water can melt some molded residue in ink}
and slightly and carefully clean the printer head.

Blurred, uneven printing

I would first try going to printer troubleshooting screen on your PC by clicking the "START bar" then select "Control Panel" next select the printer icon and then select the "Troubleshooting Printer" this will guide you through all the steps to aligning your print heads and cleaning the print cartridges. If that doen't solve the problem for you, I would then go to the internet and type in www..canon.com/printers then enter the model of printer you have. If you find any of these suggestions helpful, please rate my solution. Thanks D. Lange
