DR mode is distinctive ring, you have to go into fax setup and step through the options. If you go to print reports and select user settings the report will tell you what it's set for and the options are found in the same order they are printed.

You may need to prevent your received faxes from being accessed by unauthorized people. You can turn on secure receiving mode to restrict printing of received faxes when the machine is unattended. Cannot receive fax - need to set up external TAD receive mode but gives error message "DR Mode in Use"

The machine should have a menu selection. Sometimes it takes patience and time to sit down and go through items to select.
Without having a manual to check, these menus should be available for one to make changes to the fax features.
Somewhere in the menu selection there should be a fax setup recieve and send mode. In that selection you should find the choice to make your changes.
If you do not have a manual, other than finding someone with a manual, this would be your best way to make the changes.
The vender might have the manual, if they do, it might be for a fee.
Good luck

Brother 465 CN Won't pring in fax mode

It's all part of the setup that's in your manual. If you use the menu, go to reports and print the user settings you can check if it's set to hold faxes in memory or to print right away. It's all done by user selection.

Fax doesn't recognize incoming phone call

Try this: using a cell phone, call your fax. Listen on the cell for a busy signal, fax tones, dial tone, etc. If the fax does not answer the cell, check the following: make sure the phone line is plugged into the LINE jack on the fax, NOT THE PHONE JACK. The phone jack is to connect a TELEPHONE to the fax. If problem still exists, press MENU on your MFC, and scroll to GENERAL SETUP, FAX. Scroll to SETUP RECEIVE, and, after writing down the settings, try changing the RING DELAY or RING TIME settings. If problem is still there, press CLEAR/BACK button until GENERAL SETUP appears on screen. Scroll down to INITIAL SETUP, and select RECEIVE MODE. Try changing RECEIVE MODE settings. Write them down before you change anything.

Fax will not recieve

DR mode means that Distinctive Ring is set to on which will force your fax machine to manual receive. Turn DR off and you can set it to whatever mode you want.
