The forward/reverse pedal is stuck in the forward position. Engine runs but transmission does not engage. Possible cause for getting stuck was pussing the pedal forward when cruise was set. How can I get it unstuck?

Drop mower deck and have a look.
Both rods run to the rear on the right side.
Possibly something interfering.

2001 Monte Carlo wont start shift cable issue

Don't know about needing the brake pedal pushed to get INTO park, but it might, as the pedal needs to be pressed to get it OUT of park.

08 mercury milan stuck in park

Check and see if your brake lights are coming on.
There is a brake interlock and if the brake pedal switch is loose and doesn't turn on the brake lights, it will not let you shift out of gear.

Its to keep you from rolling in to something by accidently putting it in gear. It also keeps you from driving with no brake lights, which will tend to get you rear ended.

The switch is usually physically attached to the brake pedal bar under in the drivers footwell.

What does it mean when i can start my car but then its stuck in park and wont budge??

Your Brake Interlock switch is out of position or broken. Before the gearshift will move you need to have your foot on the Brake.

Look under the dash at the Brake pedal lever. You will see a contact switch. If it is out of alignment or broken, you will not be able to shift. Most likely you will observe your brakelights do not work either.

Feet hit these switches all of the time.

The bulbs on all brake lights are good, they've all been changed but when you brake they don't come on. The car is stuck in Park it does not let you change to any other gear it is stuck and does not budge.

Okay, this sounds like a bad brake light fuse aaaaor the brake light switch is bad, the switch is loctaed on the top of brake pedal bracket, if you follow the pedal up you will see the switch, if you unplug it andd jump the two wires the light should come on for the brakes if they do then replace the switch, this is why you are stuck in park, it going to be a fuse or the switch. hope this helps.

Mowing right along and suddenly the tractor won't go move

it's 1 of 5 likely things
The drive belt from the engine to the transaxle is totally slipping or broken
The linkage from the control pedal to the transaxle is faulty.
The transaxle is broken (not user fixable)
The by-pass rod is pulled out
The brake pedal is pushed or the linkage is stuck in the "brake" position.

Accelerator got stuck while passing a truck.

When you passed the truck... I guess you couldn't tell if the pedal was stuck since you were focused on braking.

When you brake, your brakes will overcome the acceleration of the car causing it to slow down, but like you describe, the second you let go of your brake, your car accelerates again.

It would sound like either the throttle pedal (gas pedal), the throttle line (connects pedal to throttle assembly) or your throttle assembly (on the engine) may be sticking....

Stuck in park position

the 1st thing you do is check and see if the brake lights are working, the system locks in park until it senses the brake pedal is pushed, so if the brake light switch is not working then it will not come out of park position.
