Hi Sandy, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC25 has a belt engineered to last the lifetime of the machine. It's protected by a sensor which shuts off the brush bar if something jams it. If your brush bar won't rotate it's likely it just need to be reset. Please follow the steps shown in the video I've attached.

Tip: Once you've checked the cleaner head for obstructions and removed any threads or hair from the brush bar, recline the machine into the vacuuming position. Turn it on with the red on/off switch, then press the silver brush control switch twice.

Please note: The brush bar will never rotate when the machine's standing upright, so make sure you recline it down into the normal vacuuming position before testing it.

I'm confident this will resolve the issue, but if you would like further advice after you've tried this, please get in touch with us directly. You can reach our genuine Dyson experts by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

Best wishes,

Jack

Kirby works with the brush roller head; but not the hose attachment (won't start with hose attachment)

The part of the hose that attaches to the vacuum should push on the switch on the front of the vacuum so it won't come on without the nozzle or hose attached. Inspect the hose to see if that part may be broken or not making good contact to activate the switch,

The brushes don't spin

first a measure from the the electronic-modul/switch its good to measure first there if thats ok then there could be an autostop protection spring activated in one of the 2 carbon brushes comes out and pushed the carbonbrush a little distance from the collectors the commutator circuit is then interrupted thereby to protect the armature collectors before the long spring behind the brushes comes against the collectors therefore a little spring that is to see out in the front of one of the carbon brushes then replace the brushes. measure between the 2 brushholders if there is no resistance to measure then replace the brushes. if there is resistance then measure switch but it could also be an phase break in the power cable

While vacuuming, the brush roller quit working. Nothing happens when the trigger is activated. New hepa filter and brush roller belt installed. Suction is good.

Does your power nozzle have a red power light on top? Is it light up when you squeeze the trigger? If it does, then there is a good chance that the Circuit Breaker PN2E PN2 is defective. If that is not the problem, then check the hose connection to the front of the Rainbow. Be sure that it has a solid connection. If not, then the contacts can't connect for power.

We have power but the front brush does not turn?

Your belt is probably broken, stretched or worn. You can get a replacement belt here:

THE BOSS SUPERLITE THE BRUSHES WON'T TURN

Check two things with this model: if the top slider button has been activated it will turn the brush roll on. If not then you'll have to remove the sole plate and check the sides of the beater bar - sometimes this will get jammed and refuse to turn because clogging of dust or tangled hair/carpet thread takes up the thread wheels at the sides. Sadly this model has a permanent toothed drive belt that can't really be replaced by the owner. However check the slider control on the top of the main body / handle first before doing anything - as you know it has a two option slider - switching on without the brush roll function and switching on with the brush roll activated.

Kirby vacuum

There are 2 safety switchs, one on the front that the nozzle activates, and one on the side that the bag asembly activates. The motor brushes and/or armature maybe bad.
