Scrub brushes not rotating

Hi There,

You'll need to first diagnosis why these brushes are not spinning. When the SpinScrub brushes on a Hoover SteamVac don't spin, this can be 1 of 3 different things.

In order to diagnosis which one of the problems is causing your problem, here's what you'll need to do.

Step 1. The first and easiest thing you should check is to make sure that that the brush speeed selector knob on the top of the machine is turned on, and is not in the off position. This may sound obvious, but I've had several cutsomers that have come in with this exact problem, only for the brushes to be turned off. Also make sure that the SteamVac's handle is reclined, and not in the upright position. There's a switch inside that shuts the brushes off when the SteamVac is moved into the upright position. If the brushes still are not spinning, move on to step 2.

Step 2. You'll need to remove the SpinScrub brushes from the SteamVac. Turn the machine upside down so that the brushes are facing upwards. There are four clips that hold these brushes in place. You'll need to remove the brushes from the machine by squeezing the four tabs while pulling upwards at the same time. The picture actually only shows the two tabs on the right hand side being squeezed (my left hand was holding the camera, lol), but the tabs on the left hand side are in the exact same location:

Step 3. Once the brushes have been removed, plug the machine in, make sure that the handle is reclined. Look in the SteamVac where the brushes used to be. You should see a hole that is square shaped where the brushes go into.

Turn the machine on, and look to see if this square shaped hole is spinning. If the hole is spinning, this indicates that either the brush block itself is bad, or there maybe something clogged (such as pet hair) in the brushes that's preventing them from spinning. If the square hole is not spinning, this indicates that your internal turbine brush gear has gone bad. Here's a link to a repair that I've written on how to replace the internal brush turbine gear if the square shaped, female receptacle hole is not spinning.

If the square shaped hole is spinning, here's what you may do to see if the brush block is just jammed up with debris, or if the brush block itself is bad and needs to be replaced:

Step 1. I'd say that 60% of the time that I see this problem, the main issue is that the brushes just need to be cleaned. If you have pets in the home, a lot of the time the pet hair will just be lodged inside the brushes, will prevent them from spinning. Use a pressurized water hose with spray nozzle is ideal) and spray each brush with water to dislodge any pet hair. You should be able to get these brushes spinning when you spray them. Spray each brush until the brushes are spinning pretty fast. Re-insert the brushes into the machine, and test to see if the cleaning has fixed your problem.

you should look at the brush stem that goes into the turbine inside the machine. This is the green pole pictured in middle of the brush block. Examine this pole to determine if the top of it has broken off. It should exactly how the picture shows it. Make sure that the plastic has not broken. If the pole has broken, you will simply need to replace the brush block.

How do you remove the lower handle?

Check the clean water holding tank. I had this problem and found that was a crack near the outlet on the bottom of the tank. I replaced the tank and resolved the problem. I have taken this machine apart several times, if the tank is not the problem with yours, check the water tube.

My brush bar keeps falling down. We replaced motor but now the brushes don't spin.

Hi! If you've replaced the turbine & gear assembly and the brushes are still not spinning, a replacement brush-block assembly may be needed. The brushes counter rotate and need each other to spin. If a single brush is falling out, the brush assembly is broken. If the whole brush assembly keeps falling out, the drive pin shaft may be damaged. To order a replacement brush-block follow the link below. Search Results Hope this helps!

How do i disassemble my hoover f7220

Hi there! The tanks, brushes, nozzle and handle can be removed from the cleaner by following these quick steps below. 1. To remove the clean water tank simply grasp the handle and push down on handle to unlock it, then pull the tank out by the handle. 2. To remove the dirty water tank, slide the latches open located on the sides of the cleaner that hold the tank to the base of the cleaner. Grasp the handle and pull up and off. 3. For brush removal, with the handle in the upright position, tilt cleaner back until handle rests on floor. Grab brush assembly and pull firmly. 4. To remove the nozzle, with handle in upright position, tilt cleaner back until handle rests on floor. Pull tab at rear edge of nozzle and pull forward to remove nozzle. 5. For handle removal simply remove the handle screw and lift up on handle. Disassembly beyond this point is not recommended. Hope this helps!

How to hook up tool to clean upholstery

Keep your upholstered furniture looking fresh by vacuuming it regularly with the upholstery tool attached to your vacuum's hose. Prevent the fabric from fading (or at least delay this) by keeping your furniture out of direct sunlight -- close blinds, shades or curtains when the sun shines most directly through windows closest to the upholstery. And remove stains by blotting them with a dry cleaning solvent. Before steam cleaning your upholstered furniture, read the piece's cleaning code label to determine whether or not it is safe to do so. Then rent or buy a steam cleaner (also called an extractor) and follow the directions below.

  1. Rent a steam cleaner or purchase one; buy steam cleaner solution.
  2. Step 2 Vacuum the upholstery on the furniture you wish to steam clean; use the upholstery attachment to most effectively **** up loose debris.
  3. Step 3 Test the steam-cleaner solution on the upholstery in an inconspicuous place to ensure the color won't be steamed out or drastically altered.
  4. Step 4 Attempt to remove any stains with a stain removal or dry cleaning solution. Follow the directions that come with the product you choose for the best results, and allow the stain remover to dry before you begin steam cleaning.
  5. Step 5 Remove cushions and, if necessary, arm covers.
  6. Step 6 Gently apply the steaming water and cleaning solution in straight lines across the upholstery one section at a time.
  7. Step 7 Use the cleaning extension on the steam cleaner to **** up as much water as possible. The dirt will come out with the water.
  8. Step 8 Clean one side each cushion (then allow it to dry) before cleaning the other side. If the cushions are permanently attached to the furniture, clean them last.
  9. Step 9 Allow the furniture to dry completely before repeating the steam-cleaning process or replacing the cushions.

Pump assembly

This model does not have a pump. The water flows from the tank by gravity when the trigger is depressed. A turbine assembly spins by the airflow which causes the brushes to spin
