After printing the demo page from the printer it was fine. but i still cant print from the computer. i keep gettn a message that there is some kind of problem with the usb. i have the printer connected to the computer thru an usb cable, i dont want it to be on the network. please help me ASAP!
It sounds like your printer drivers are not installed properly. What O/S are you using? i.e. XP or Vista?
If you are using XP i suggest that you uninstall the printer (using add remove programs) and turn the printer off. Re boot and reinstall the driver from manufacturers disk and when the computer asks, turn the printer on again.
This should ensure that the drivers are installed correctly. if the printer still wont print from the computer you may have a faulty USB Cable.
Try reinstalling the printer to a different USB Port on your computer. This should force Windows to install the drivers correctly, and thus make your printer work.
You may need to visit the HP Support Site to obtain the drivers if you have not got your disc.

Are you able to print test page from Printer ? This will help us diagnose and isolate the issue further To print self test page ( Demo page ), do these steps below
Press the right arrow button simultaneously. It should start printing the demo page. If this works fine, this could possibly be an issue related to print jobs stuck in queue.
To clear print job stuck in Queue Click on Start button Click on Control panel Click on Printers and Faxes Check for HP Laserjet Printer icon Right click on the printer icon and Click Cancel all documents Once you have done the above step, disconnect the printer from PC ( if using usb ) or turn printer off
Restart your PC/laptop Check under printers and faxes folder if the Printer status shows Ready and 0 You are ready to print
Turn off printer
Hold down green button
Power on printer. (cold reset)
In printer properties choose print directly to printer, then choose print test page.
You can print the Coniguration page and demos?
If so, somehow you may the settings to the printer wrong.
If you select , file, then print, see that the proper printer is selected.
If you can print those other pages, the printer and connection is fine. There is some setting not sending the print job from the applications.
Really sounds like the printer has be deselected at the default printer
Check printer status it has to on "ready" status, then again try to print a demo page located on your printer settings that you don't need to have computer connected. if you can print demo page that you know printer is working fine then again you only have to try for PC connectivity and drivers. if you can print demo page trough printer replug USB still if its not working try to reinstall drivers.
IT WAS THE USB CABLE!
