I am trying to set up the scan function on an Imagerunner 3245i. It is a workgroup environment, and I need the scanner to send the pdf to a "scans" folder on the user's desktop (folder c:\users\secretary\desktop\scans). Note this had been working previously on a Win XP system; I have just replaced the workstation with a Win7 64-bit system. The desktop folder is shared by everyone for both read and write. I entered the address in the Address Book, but when I select the address and try to send, the file does not appear in the scans folder; instead the document is printed. I have tried using both the computer name and IP address, both without success. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

run the network scangear utility from the start menu. Click "discover scanner", when the discovery is finished select your copier and then click apply.

You need to set the scan settings in copier settings 200dpi 300dpi color or black and white....

Unfortunately, you can't do it remotely. You have to do it at the machine. Just hit the "additional functions" button, go into "communication settings", then "TX settings" on the left, then "edit standard send settings". This is where you would set your default resolution and file type.
