donnaandbren,
I checked the encompass site but they do not have a service manual. If you go to
http://www.servicemanuls.net you can download the manual for about $16.00 US. If you are going to keep fixing this unit the service manual would be very useful and for the price it will save you alot of time.
Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

Display problems like these are associated with the t-con board. The first thing to try would be to re-seat the connectors on the same. Just un-plug the connectors from the board and re-seat them. If this does not resolve the issue, then can you please tell me if the purple mesh clears itself after the set is on for a while?
Sai.

Write down your serial # (found on the back or on the side) and your model # and call 800-Samsung. The issue has to do with the capacitors and if your TV was manufactured between Dec 2007 and May 2008 they will send a repairman out to repair for free (one time only). I just called and they are sending someone out to repair mine. Apparently there are tons of people experience the same problem.

Hi
A very common problem with these sets are bad capacitors that cause this problem.
If you are ok with electronics then remove the back from your tv and look towards the power supply.
Check the power supply for any Swollen or bulged capacitos on top, they may even leak a brown like liquid substance and are usually valued around 1000uf / 10v.
Replace any that you see suspect on the power board, I have fixed a lot of these and its fairly easy to do, I would however always increase the voltage of the new capacitors but ALWAYS keep the same uf.
Lets say 1000uf / 25v
Please comment and rate if this helps.
Thanks

You need to first resolder your Boards and with back off Look for Bad or Leaky capacitors if you see any that are vented or puffed up on top they are Bad replace them Look for 1,000uf 10v 2200uf 25v 3300uf 16v capacitors.Poor Solder connections and Bad capacitors will cause this.
How do you remove the bottom mount from an lcd
Page 85 of the manual has it, and can be downloaded
here. Here's what it says to do:
1. Place the TV face down on a soft cloth or cushion on a table.
2. Remove four screws from the back of the TV.
3. Separate the stand from the TV.
4. Cover the bottom hole with a cap.
There is a picture in the manual that indicates that the four mentioned screws are the four on the bottom back of the television.
Good luck!

Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems the issue is with the power supply Board problem. The PSB
is the center Board (towards left) after you remove the back off the TV. Remove
Board from TV with the 6-7 screws. Replace capacitors CM811, CM812, CM817 &
CS806; 1000ufd 25volts. It is the board to the left and you notice that the
four cap tops are swollen. . It
could also be due to the inverter circuits for the backlights. The
inverter is the power supply source for the backlights. There could
also be a screen driver problem; if it is then you have to change the entire
board. All this is only recommended if you have some kind of expertise for
checking the internal circuitry of the TV as these units have high voltages
running even when the set is switched off.
Please do accept
the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further
assistance.
Thanks

Self- reboots at start-up, then shows picture but with pink dots.
Howdy,
It sounds like you have a Power Supply Board problem. The PSB is the center Board (towards left) after you remove the back off the TV. Remove Board from TV with the 6-7 screws. Replace capacitors CM811, CM812, CM817 & CS806; 1000ufd 25volts. It is the board to the left and you notice that the four cap tops are swollen.
It is easy to replace get a stanard solder pencil and you are in business.
Thanks for using FIXA, BIG IRISH.

I would check the LVDS cable from the main board to the t-con board and the ribbon cable from the t-con board to the LCD display for good connection. Be very careful not to damage any of these. Sometimes they become corroded.
