The issue has been resolved. I removed the back of the TV (pretty easy actually) by laying a blanket over the kitchen table and placing the TV face down. I started with the power supply as an obvious beginning. Both fuses on the board tested fine. And touched up every solder joint with a hot soldering iron in case the problem was a cold solder joint. After this painstaking venture, I performed another visual inspection and noticed a capacitor that had a thin black X on the top of the can. This is a common sign the capacitor has over heated. I located a replacement for $1.20, installed, and successfully powered up the TV. I have had no problems since.
Oh, yeah, I also paid $120 for a BN44-00150A replacement power supply, plus overnight shipping. It actually arrived three weeks later. That was two weeks and six days after I fixed the power supply myself.

We can't detect a faulty board by smell, like dogs do. You should check its circuit. If you wish to get some details; visit the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

This is a common problem with all Samsung flat panels. The problem is caused by faulty capacitors on the Power board. It is an easy fix if you have basic soldering skills. You can also call Samsung and see if your tv is covered under the class action and they will send a tech out to replace the board.

This sounds similar to a known problem with bad capacitors in some Samsung TVs. Even though the TV is out of warranty, Samsung extend the repair period for affected TVs. Get your TV model and serial number off the back and then call Samsung at: 1-800-Samsung (1-800-726-7864).

Explain the problem and let them know that you have heard about similar problems and heard they were being repaired out of warranty. In my case, they sent a tech out and did the repair for free.

If for some reason they will not do it, the repair is quite simple for someone who can solder and you can find details here: http://www.thebuzzmedia.com/samsung-tv-capacitor-clicking-issue-and-free-repair/

Most likely your backlight inverter is defective. On a set this big, the inverters should be seperate boards. It could also be leaky caps in the power supply, or a defective mainboard that isn't holding the "BL ON" signal. The tv is repairable but most repair shops will want to gouge you on price.

This is common problems for LCD tv,most likely because bad components parts call capacitors on the tv power supply board. That the board, where the power a/c cord plug into it.U have tools like a soldering iron, desoldering pump or roll of desoldering braid also can do basic soldering and understanding basic electronic?Take the tv aparts.Yes,check all over the power supply board for capacitors parts are bulging up or puffing up.By replacing all these dying capacitors components parts, will help ur tv LED power light stop blinking and the tv will work right away.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
