It switches on and initializes checks all

The P3005 is known to have problems with a chip on the formatter, gives various errors to include the 49.2d9d, blank display and others. HP has not issued a recall or service advisory but is fully aware of failure of the chip on the formatter. Repair for this is to print a configuration page, replace the formatter board, bring the machine back up in service mode and put in the correct serial, service code and page counts into the new formatter's nvram memory.

Liberty Parts Team at lbrty.com has refurbished formatters at reasonable pricing with no return core to worry about. The PIN needed to access the service mode is 10300506.

Other problems with the P3005 are grinding in the fuser area, correctable by removal of the fuser, replacement of the 4 accessable gears in the side (left as you look into the back) and the main gear on the fuser then put the fuser back in and should be good.

I am getting the error:49:4c2d error turn off the on i have turn it on the off

Common with the P3005 anymore thanks to our "friends" at HP having this stuff made in China. Chip failure in the formatter board causes freezes, your 49.xx error, blank display, more. Formatter must be replaced and is simple.

If your machine has USB and parallel (no networking) then the formatter should be Q7847-61006 and if it has built in network and USB (P3005N and P3005DN) then its a Q7848-61006. Liberty Parts Team at lbrty.com (Colleen Longseth) has refurbished without need to send the bad board back at reasonable pricing. Be sure to give the agent the model of the machine, starts with a Q.

Since you cant get a configuration page out of the machine you will have to start at 0 on page counts but once the formatter is replaced go down the menu to SERVICE and when prompted for PIN insert 10300506 to access the service menu.

Service manual free download at feedroller.com - down the left navigation bar is an icon for service manuals - click and get what you need in PDF - dont make ebay sellers rich selling copyrighted PDFs illegally.

Standard top bin full remove all paper from bin

Is this occurring even with no paper in the face down top bin? Likely a stuck paper sensor flag, or dirty optical sensor. You need to remove the top to access it, investigate and replace the flag or sensor, or clean the optical sensor. Service manual free at feedroller.com - look down the left navigation bar for an icon and link to service manuals. You can download the PDF free - dont make people selling copyrighted material on ebay rich.

Top cover isnt that hard to remove and requires patience and a #2 phillips screwdriver. Be careful of the cable for the display and buttons when you lift the cover off.

My printer will not print the 1st document. It

Do a Cold Reset. This will return the printer to the original factory settings. But first, print out a configuration page so you will have a record of any custom settings you may want to re-enter after the reset. To get the config page, press the Go button and hold until 2 lights begin to flash, then release the button.

To do the Cold Reset:

1) Turn the printer off

2) Turn the printer on. As soon as the memory count starts onn the LCD display, press and hold the SELECT button. Continue holding it until all 3 lights flash once then remain on solid. This can take up to 10-15 seconds.

3) When the message SELECT LANGUAGE appears on the LCD display, press the UP or DOWN button until COLD RESET is displayed.

4) Press SELECT. This will start the Cold Reset process. When it's finished it will continue the power on sequence.

5) Send a job to the printer for a test.

Can't get my HP j4680 to Fax or Scan.

Hi Jelind

This is the first thing to do to clear all the printer history. Go to the bottom of the thread.

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Software-and/Unable-to-install-HP8500-drivers/m-p/17...

This is the second thing to do after you try to install and it tells you a section is missing from INF. There is probably a missing registery value for imaging device. It fixed my 309a issues. Great hardware-support a bit lacking.

Where to find the manual (pdf) for HP Laserjet P3005 printer

Sometimes , it is convenient to have a soft copy of your user manual. You may also require it as you lost your original printed manual. This tip will guide you to your digital manual and explain how to download it.

Printed manuals are normally available at a cost from the product manufacturer. Please see the link below to contact the manufacturer and find out how to replace your printed manual.

To download a soft copy of your manual , please Click Here to go to the retrevo page for your manual. This is a excellent site that maintains a manual and product database of thousands of products available free to download in PDF format.

Standard top bin full remove all paper from bin

Check the sensor flag where the paper exits the printer and make sure it is not stuck in the "up" position. This is a small black plactic flap right in the center of where the paper exits. When this flap is up it tells the printer that this area is full. HP says to "flip" the sensor flag up and down to make sure it is not stuck.
Good Luck

That means a critical firmware error has occurred.

Turn the device off, wait 10 minutes and then turn it on again.

If no luck, use a new USB or parallel cable.

Thank you

MY HP LASERJET 3005 DISPLAY ERROR 49.2F9D

if it is just with that one application ,then try a different driver.sometimes there are backward compatibility issues and PCL6 is a newer and more radical language.all it is ,is installing one of the other drivers.a PCL5e driver is usually most stable.otherwise try just a regular PCL5 driver.you can download them from this link(select your operating system) ,then double click it to run it and unzip it.it will unzip usually to a location in local disk c.or in c/program files,(you can type in where you want it to unzip if it will make it easier to find).though some drivers install differently ,you can then open the add printer wizard in the control panel and follow through the steps, and when you get to the manufacturer's page/list,you choose have disk, then "browse", and browse to the location where the driver unzipped to and click on that unzipped driver and it will show up in the browse box, then follow through by clicking "open" ,then "ok",and follow through with the last couple steps.the readme with the the driver files would have instructions for install.you can click on the driver header name before downloading it to learn more about it.

the cold reset should work.when it is powered off and you press the select button and hold it ,then power on and continue to hold it,the led's should flash once quickly, then come on solid.at that point release the select button quickly and "select language" then should pop up on the display.then use the arrows to scroll to "cold reset" and hit select again.when the language message comes up,thats how you will know it is ok to that point.after scrolling to "cold reset" and hitting select again,it should then reinitialize the machine. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=1846099&lang=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodTypeId=18972&prodSerie

49 is a firmware error, could just be a document or character set that it can't print, power cycling should clear the error, if it comes back right away, you may have a bad formatter pcb or memory if you have added memory installed.

It is a well known problem. You'll have to exchange the formatter board.
For a P3005 its partnumber: Q7847-61006, for a P3005N use partnumber: Q7848-61006. Good luck, Gerrit Jan
