First try cleaning the metallic contacts on the Cartridge/s and on the Printer. You can use a cotton bud dampen with alcohol or spirit.
Gold Contacts on Cartridges:
nonontech_169.jpg

Wipe these portions only with the Cotton bud, don't ever touch the Print Head (lower metallic portion), you may damage it.

The below picture is the Gold contacts on the printer where the cartridges' contacts come in contact when installed:
nonontech_170.jpg

Clean them properly with the cotton bud.
I would also recommend you to clean the whole system, you can follow these instructions (Click Here)

After they are cleaned, reinstall and see if that helps or not. If the same problem persists, you can try "Partial Reset".
To do Partial Reset, follow the instructions..
  1. Turn on the HP All-in-One.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the unit.
  3. Press and hold the # and 3 buttons simultaneously.
  4. While still holding down the # and 3 buttons, connect the power cord to the back of the unit.
  5. Continue holding the buttons until the Power button blinks.
  6. Follow the instructions that display on the unit to select the language settings.

You still have one more option if the above steps don't seem helpful. You can try performing Hard Reset, no wonder, this is the simplest method, but the most effective and is recommended by HP if any error is persistent.
  1. Unplug the power cord from the printer and from the wall outlet while the printer is still On.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the unit.
  3. Wait for 30 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the unit.
  5. Plug the power cord into the wall outlet.
  6. Turn on the unit by pressing the Power button.
  7. Follow the instructions that display on the HP All-in-One to select the settings.
  8. If nothing new is coming up on the display, press the Settings button on the printer, navigate through the options with the Up-Down key and locate "Default Setting" or "Factory Default" and confirm it so that it would be performed.
Please note that performing any of the above Reset method will clear the fax memory, all the custom settings will be restored to it's factory default.

If the problem persists ever after all these are performed, then there must another internal problem with the printer which will need "Service". I would recommend you to contact HP for servicing and centers.

Let me know if you need further help.

Good Luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Hi,

I will suggest you try reset the printer, follow the instruction below to reset your printer, if the problem still persist, replace the cable that connects the printer to the power outlet. If that did not still fix the problem, you will need to reinstall the driver of the printer, you can get it at HP web site.

1. Without turning the unit off, unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
2. Press and hold # and 6 keys.
3. While holding those keys plug the power cord back in.
4. Wait until the screen goes blank before you release those keys.
5. Follow on printer screen instructions.

If that did not fix the problem, try this,
  1. Unplug the power cable from printer while the printer is powered on.
  2. Press and hold OK and HELP buttons while plugging in the power cord. Wait for the screen to go black or blank before releasing the keys.
  3. Just turn on the printer and configure your printer new.

in the back of the printer, there is a plastic door try to dismount check if there is some thing triggers the "jam " error put it again and check, if not, try by your hand to put the head on far left side, some jam errors are from lost head position , then check the rolling rod it has plastic finger looks like half-round, if this finger is jammed and it's tip is not smooth with paper flow it will trigger paper jam
this plastic finger might jammed before and strongly removed the jammed paper which might changed it's curvature hopefully it work

You should try uninstalling your printer and reinstalling it. This can be down through the software you installed with your printer via control panel - add and remove programs. Also in control panel printers and faxes and remove your printer. Once done this go to hp's website and download the latest driver (see link) and install it. That way you have the up to date software.

Can i receive faxes if so how my phone is hooked

You need to push the "auto answer" button your fax machine so that it knows to answer the incoming call. The auto answer button is on your printers keyboard, usually in the upper left hand corner and has a little red light next to it. When you push this button, the fax will answer all incoming calls. You can set the number of rings to answer through the menu on the computers keyboard. Look for the menu key and use the up and down arrows to scroll through the options until you see fax set up.

Try clearing all paper from all carriages (Top,Rear, Front, etc. then reinserting proper amounts. Even the smallest piece of paper can cause a jam. Here is a user manual in case you don't have one you can get it here: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00844812.pdf

This is a PDF and it is searchable and easy to navigate (Red lettering will take you to that section), so you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader (if you don't already have it you can get free here:
http://get.adobe.com/reader/
Also, once you have done all you can turn the printer off for a moment then turn it back on.
Hope this helps. Good luck
If this helps you resolve your problem, please
consider giving me a good rating and a quick thanks
or good job.It will help me as well Thank you.
