Have been trying to scan but continue to receive this error message - NO SCAN OPTIONS. Read all the comments from others with this problem so I went to HP Solution Center. Rec'd this message when trying to open that program - NO HP DEVICES HAVE BEEN DETECTED. HPS SOL. CTR WILL CLOSE NOW. Can you suggest any remidies?
Problem Solved. I'm not sure what exactly was the answer but here is the steps I followed. First I went to the HP website and followed their procedure to uninstall hidden devices (namely duplicate HP devices). I uninstalled all of the devices. Then (with the USB cable still attached) I deleted the Printer and Scanner from Control Panel. At this point I disconnected the USB cable (the cable worked but the software wouldn't recognize the cable was attached). With the cable unattached, I uninstalled all the HP software with the 'remove software' program in control panel. The I used the original disk for the printer and reinstalled the software. Eventually the installation process prompted me to reinstall the USB cable. It was at this point the software started to recognize the cable again. And here is the best part, after the software finished installing the 'Scan To' button started working correctly!!!!

i just installed ink cartridge and closed top cover to align the print cartridges but screen says to close print cartridge access door
I have an HP Officejet 6210 All-in-One. When you open the print cartridge access door there is a black toggle switch that needs to be in the depressed position to let the unit know the door is closed. Something was missing from the topside of the "door" so the switch didn't close. I simply stuffed in some foam material to close this, and the unit operates normally. You will need to remove this when changing cartridges, then replace it again.

I am getting an error "Cartridge error : cartridge on right must be replaced". Cartridge is more than 50% full. Have tried removing cartridge and replacing back but with not success.
I had the same problem. The only difference is that I decided to try using an XL cartridge to save money on ink. This is what caused my error message. After exchanging the XL and replacing it with the regular size cartridge the error message went away.

hp office jet j5780 cartridge error: cartridge on right must be replaced
Switch off, Remove catridge and Clean any leakage in the printer.
Clean the catridge with saliva if u do not have any cleaning liquide. Put the catridges back switch on and you are there. My hardware officer just tried it this morning and it worked like magic.
Note make sure all leakages are removed.

I tried to connect it to my network, and it does not work. Is there a compatible print server available? Or, can I get an adaptor that will connect the USB port to the ethernet?
Thanks.
Patrick
What you are saying will not work . The J5780 only connects with a USB. It does not have a J45 connection. So to play with the "built in network server" would do nothing. You would have to have some way to convert the USB to a J45 so he could hook it to his Wireless Router. His only alternative is to hook it to another computer that is used as a Wireless Slave that is shared or to get a print server. Hower, Belkin does make a wireless USB Hub that converts 5 USB's to J45 and can be hooked to you Wireless Router. It also has a built in Print Server. You can take this device and instead of hooking it J45 to the Router you can hook it to a linksys Bridge and now the USB HUB from Belkin becomes completely wireless. And has a Print server to boot! The model number are Belkin "Network USB Hub" and the Linksys WET54G.
Since the Hub connects to the USB devices and then converts them to a J45, to link to a network you can hook it to the llinksys device and convert it to a wireless network usb hub. It also has a print server built in.
It works. I own the same printer all in one and if you search on the internet you can pick up both devices on the cheap.

I have opened the lid and cannot see any obstructions. I have removed and reinstalled the cartridges themselves
We have several of these in our company and the most common "Carriage Jam" cause is a glob of black ink in the bay on the right side. Once glob is removed, and "Carriage Jam" message appears again, press OK, and it prints fine from then on. Today the black ink glob was flat on top. Watch out for leaky cartridges, as the design of the particular HP device provides a nice catch pan for the tri-color ink cartridge, but not for the black one, so a leaky cartridge, besides being expensive and wasteful, can goop up the bay causing the carriage jam error message to try to get you to take a closer look.

I have an HP DeskJet F4100 All-In-One printer.
To save money, I have for several months been taking my empty ink cartridges to Walgreens and having them refilled. I have had no problems with doing this, until yesterday.
While attempting to print a business letter, both of the "Attention!" lights on the Control Panel that pertain to the ink cartridges suddenly started blinking on and off, and an error message appeared on my computer screen, saying that there was an unspecified problem with the color cartridge.
Assuming that the color cartridge was empty (which I suspect may very well have been true), I removed it. Believing that the black cartridge was probably also close to being empty, I pulled it as well, and I took both cartridges to Walgreens for refilling. They refilled and checked out just fine on the Walgreens system. I brought them back to my office and put them back into the printer, expecting everything to work perfectly.
NOT.
Despite having disconnected and reinitialized both the printer and my computer several times, and even reloading the printer software, both of the ink warning lights are still blinking on and off and the printer is unusable.
I called HP Tech Support, and the tecnician led me through a series of basic disgnostics that did not solve the problem. Then she asked me if my ink cartridges are genuine HP cartridges. I told her 'No', whererupon her entire demeanor changed, she curtly informed me that HP will not provide technical assistance unless the ink cartridges are genuine HP products. I attempted to ask her another question, which she refused to answer, telling me that the only way I will get further assistance is to pay for it,and even then in order to get the help needed with what she referred to as a "reset", I would have to be using HP cartridges and no other. She also mentioned something about 'firmware', lectured me on what she referred to as the equivalent of taking a Ford engine, shoving into a GMC vehicle, blowing the transmission and then expecting GMC to fix it for free. I asked her, if, considering the fact that I have owned HP products for 20+ years and have never before asked for tech support, she was just going to leave me hanging in mid-air. She said, "I'm afraid I can't help you sir", then hung up on me. Nice, huh?
In Googling the issue of genuine vs. 3rd party inks, I have discovered that this is a major issue and that HP is notorious for its aggressive efforts to keep HP printer owners locked into buying their vastly overpriced in cartridges at full retail
Other than the problem described above, I have had no issues with my printer, and in fact like it a lot..
Can somebody help me to get back up and running, and to be able to continue to use the lesser-expensive ink cartridges I have been using for months with no problem?
Thank you!
PS: Would anyone like to guess how long it will be before I buy another HP product for business or personal use?
She is correct, use only GENUINE HP ink carts, then your printer will work again. THIS IS HOW HP MAKES THEIR MONEY, they don't care about the printer itself.

There is no 'adminstrator' so saying that it can't be done unless the 'adminstrator' installs is wrong.
What can I do?
there's always an administrator (even if it's the one and only user).
what version of windows? (I'm assuming windows).
if Vista you can try to run the installer as administrator (find the install program, right-click, choose run as administrator).

The power button and exclamation mark light keep blinking while it tells me to turn off and then turn power on but when i do this the same thing happens again. Also the copy quality lights all blink repeatedly. Ive tried setting it up again but this doesnt work
Perform a partial reset of the HP All-in-One
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
