Dear Ken, It is a logic card or sensor problem of your printer. In this cash better if warranty is there, take it to the service center. If no warranty, to any technician who can do it. thanks

Please check if there are any damage to the cosmetics of the unit.
Ensure that all plastics are properly in place, something must have loosen out when you pull the lid out which also caused that crackling sound that you heard.
Can you please check the sides and the place where the lid and the body closes (joints).

Make sure the printer cable is connected firmly.
Make sure the printer driver is installed correctly.

You may have blocked inkjet nozzels in the print head.

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages,then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.

Hello, if the waste tank is full, just take it out, and dump it out over a trash can. Do not waste money on a new one, because you can just empty this one. Just dump it out over a trash can and you should be good to go.

Do you want to print an email? If I am right then open the mail first. In the mail you will found a drop down arrow or print option. Keep printer on and just click on print option. It is very easy. If you want the fax setup then there will be two RJ11 port connect RJ11 cable of the phone in a port and from another port there have to connect a RJ11 cable from printer to phone port. Another RJ11 connector should be inside of the printer box. After connection start the Fax setup. The Fax setup will ask your phone Number. Put your phone Number there with which u will connect the Fax. Before that, install the driver of the printer and fax. Then the fax setup is very easy. The fax setup will be given in the manual of the printer which will be inside of the printer box.

This error must be related with the Printer's driver. Hope there's no any hardware failure with the machine. I would suggest you to reinstall the driver/software. First of all, uninstall the hp software and driver from your computer, restart the computer and reinstall them. You can download the Driver/Software from HERE (if you don't have).
If the problem persists, let me know with more details including the operating system installed on your computer. Is it on a Network or is it a shared printer on a home/office network? Did this happen without any warning or sign of issues or did you notice this after you made some changes with the system or machine?

just simply run the software of your hp officejet printer then click on the maintenance tab, then you can see their the print head cleaning and any other maintenance job.

In most cases the printer driver software can have errors while being in use or is shut down. So to reset remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and then connect the Printer to be detected as a new hardware as it will be installed. Now check the printer properties to see the ink levels.
Activate head cleaning before a test is taken . Sometimes it is possible that the head is not reacting to the need of the PC command or can be an issue with ink drying or poor ink cartridge contacts. Sometimes the power supply unit must be checked as a poor SMPS unit can deliver low voltage and cause issues to the printer function. Check all the leads and connections of the mother board , the tags to the ink cartridge. Also check the mechanical settings of the ink cartridge , if jammed or tight remove motor and manually free the drive before it is set back.
