Something inside the drive is blocking the slot -

Hmmm..........
Look for a small hole on the face front, use a precission screw driver that could fit in that tiny hole, push it till it hit something. Then it will open automatically or while pushing that screw driver push the eject button
Hope that solve your problem!

When I put dvd/cd in

Is the dvd drive showing up when you open my computer? What operating system are you using? What is the model of your dvd/cd drive? Where did you get the drivers for your dvd drive from? Try uninstalling the dvd driver from the device manager and try reinstalling the driver.

  • Please press "Windows+R" key to open the Run command, type regedit and then click OK.
  • Please click on File-->Export and then enter the name and select the location to backup the registry.
  • In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-->SYSTEM--->CurrentControlSet-->Control-->Class-->{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
  • In the right pane, click UpperFilters.

  • In the right pane, click LowerFilters, on the Edit menu, click Delete and select Yes.
Note If you do not see the LowerFilters registry entry, exit the Registry.
  • Exit Registry Editor and restart the Computer.
This should resolve the issue.
