Something inside the drive is blocking the slot -
Hmmm..........
Look for a small hole on the face front, use a precission screw driver that could fit in that tiny hole, push it till it hit something. Then it will open automatically or while pushing that screw driver push the eject button

My Dvd Rom not working
make sure that the cd rom is getting enough consistent power test all leads that are attached to the cd rom including electical extensions and make sure they have a secure connection or just replace them there might be bad/faulty or
your drivers may have been corrupted or you might have a virus run your antivrus program
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd rom then plug them back in this will activate found new hardware wizard or
you might have to uninstall then reinstall your cd rom or uninstall the driver then reinstall for this device
if this does not fix the problem might be a registry problem
control panel admistrive tools,computer management,device manager scroll down cd dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question mark ? right click you can you can update driver,roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer
Close all open programs
Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Control
Class
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.
Upper Filters
Lower Filters
Upper Filters.bak
Lower Filters.bak
If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose DeleteAfter deleting the keys, close the registry editorReboot your computerOpen My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

Dvd is not being recognized

is it powered if yes can you eject it through right click if yes its fine just uninstall your dvd drive from device manager and reinstall it if still dosent work you have to down load the firm ware of the dvd drive from dell sight and upgrade the firware and back to normal.

Is the dvd drive showing up when you open my computer? What operating system are you using? What is the model of your dvd/cd drive? Where did you get the drivers for your dvd drive from? Try uninstalling the dvd driver from the device manager and try reinstalling the driver.
My dell problem is on
sounds like a driver problem go to control panel, system , device manager find your dvd right clik and choose update driver you may also need to go to download.com and search for codecs this may help.

The issue is with the registry of the Computer. Please follow the steps
to resolve the issue. Please back up the registry before performing the
steps.
- Please press "Windows+R" key to open the Run command,
type regedit and then click OK.
- Please click on File-->Export and then enter the
name and select the location to backup the registry.
- In the navigation pane, locate and then click the
following registry
subkey:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-->SYSTEM--->CurrentControlSet-->Control-->Class-->{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
- In the right pane, click UpperFilters.
Note
You may also see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You do
not have to remove that entry. Click UpperFilters only. If you do not
see the UpperFilters registry entry, you still might have to remove the
LowerFilters registry entry.
- On the Edit menu, click Delete and select Yes to
confirm.
- In the right pane, click LowerFilters, on the Edit
menu, click Delete and select Yes.
Note If you do not
see the LowerFilters registry entry, exit the Registry.
- Exit Registry Editor and restart the Computer.
This should resolve the issue.

Dvd stuck in computer
hi,
it is a mechanical failure.. time being use this trick. in front side of the ROM you will find the one small hole,take needle like substance around 3 to 4 inch long and put in that hole and press inside, ROM will eject....

Just follow these steps been provided to restore your CD/DVD ROM drive.
Go to start and Open the run command
Type regedit in the box and run
Then do as follows. Goto
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
\SYSTEM
\CurrentControlSet
\Control
\Class
Key Name: {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Value Data: [Delete All Value Data from UpperFilters and LowerFilters]
Note: Do not delete the Key or the Multi-String Values. Delete only the data values.
Exit Registry and Reboot.

Try updating the firmware of the optical drive depending on the model.

Not recognizing a dvd
you can try to reinstall the codecs, get the disk for cyberlink or roxio dvd to have it installed on your system or can try to search for other dvd codecs you can download KM player as an alternate it comes with a dvd codec

Dont appear to computer but it is connect olready
You can try to check device manager go to start>right click computer>select manage>click device manager>then if you have the drive appeared on the list with yellow exclamation point then right click it uninstall and restart the computer
