Our Sony Bravia tv picture keeps going light dark
I have Sony KDL-32XBR9 and I have noticed a similar problem. When the picture is showing mostly black, for example during the ending credits of a movie, the TV will further darken the display. Once the picture lightens back up, the TV will adjust the brightness of the display back to normal. I just called Sony customer support and they indicated it was a firmware problem and they will be sending a USB device in the mail to update the firmware. Hope this helps.

In most cases is the screen is covered with vertical lines all the way accross the screen then the T-Con module is at fault. The t-con board is replaceable without having to replace the entire LCD panel which would usually make it cheaper than replacing the TV. The part number I come up with is 1-857-213-11. These blinks (flashes) are fault indication. By the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. Count the blinks occur at one time switch ON, carefully. Do it once again, and make sure about the number of blinks.
