It won't allow tape !
I had the same problem with my ZR200. It would not accept the tape, even a new one. I happened on this site and read about 20 comments from people who had the same problem. They all solved it the same way. You close camera's LCD screen and turn that side face down. Next you place your left hand under that side, close your right fist and gently slap the top side(cassette side) of the camera with the bottom of your fist. It worked for me the first time and now works GREAT! I had called a repair shop who told me to bring it in for repair and then I was looking on the internet for a replacement camera when I happened upon this site. Yes, I do believe in miracles! Good Luck.

I have the ZR200 camcorder
First of all you need an application on your computer such as Avid that you can download video to.
I used mac a long time ago so I only know Avid is supported on mac's on windows XP professional you get a free package called film maker anyway you must have an application on your PC that ingests Video.
Once you have that look around your camera for a small output connector that looks like two rectangles on there side it's called a 1394 fire wire port on small cameras like yours they are 4 pin on larger ones they are 6 pin.
Now on your computer you should have the same fire wire socket Laptops 4 pin Workstations normally 6 pin you need to connect a fire wire cable between the camera and the computer.
Once connected the computer wizard should see a new device and try and load the driver if it can’t find one you will have to go to the cannon website and download one for your camera, it's unlikely that automatic searching for one will find one as auto search only goes to the Microsoft site.
Once you have an application and the fire wire is connecting the camera to the computer you will be able to import the video from your camera and edit it.
Being a broadcast editor I know small systems can be tricky let me know how you get on and if I can help further I will. Best of luck
Hope this helps.

It says card error
There can be few issues related to the card error message in the DV.
First of all take the card out and check it on the PC card reader. If there is any possibility of virus then scan to detect , quarantine or delete.
If the card is fine copy off all the files to a folder and format.
now put the formatted card to the DV.
If the errror comes up there can be fewother issue.
1. The fault of non contact of the card slot.
2. The possibility of the interface failure to the mP.
3. the possible soldering joints of the slot contacts.
If you are able to open with good experience of handling micro mechanisms, then open this section to check for some dirt or dry solderings.
Otherwise take help or just keep the DV working as it is except for the still images.
It say card error.
This problem of yours is related to a corrupted memory card on your camera, what you can do here is to format the card using the camera menu or better yet format the card t your computer , connect the card to your computer using card reader and format it from there.

My cannon ZR200 digital camcorder won't accept its tapes. What could I be doing wrong and how do I fix it?
Jul 24, 2007 by Nate Dawg | Posted in Camcorders
I don't know if it is the tape I'm using or what, but when I put it in it closes for about 5 seconds then rejects it. I don't know what is wrong because it just started doing this recently.
The most likely cause is either something (a piece of dirt or something) is stuck in the tape deck, or a small piece of metal is bent. It also might be caused by moisture in the tapes, but if you let them sit inside for an hour, they should be fine. If you can see something, try to pull it out, otherwise take it to a dealer and have them take a look.
Try to blow the tape cartridge out with compressed air to try to free any obstruction, that's about all one can do without having it serviced. Get an estimate first, since the cost of repair can be high.
Good luck, and hope this helps.
