Bose (321GS) System - Page 2 Questions & Answers
Bose System Bose 321 unsupported format with dvd's
You need to stand at the front of a Bose store and tell everyone about to enter your story, until the manager of the store agrees to give you a new one. This looks like an ongoing problem that Bose knows about and will not address. $900+ and maybe 60 hours dvd time and I'm on the same boat. I thought Bose could be a trusted company.
Low volume at full setting
Check in your Settings under "Music".. There is a "Volume Limit" setting that has a default setting.. If you turn this off, you should notice a difference in your volume control.. It took me some time to figure this one out. I couldn't get any volume from my Bose headphones.. now they work great!

Change from 2.0 to 5.0
Sounds like your Cable box audio settings are outputting two channels (stereo) instead of five channels (surround). It could be on an automatic setting, meaning whatever the digital audio stream coming from the TV channel is, your Bose system will play audio in that config. Hence why it changed from 5.0 to 2.0. Go into your Cable box audio settings and change the output to Dolby Digital (or similar). You will also need to be connected via a digital optical cable from your cable box to your Bose 321 to output true digital audio. If you post the make and model of your cable box I might be able to give you more direct instructions on how to do this if your still having trouble.

Where is the IR sensor on a Bose 3-2-1 Series II?
I believe I've found the IR sensor. By shining a flash light on the various parts of the normally opaque shield over the front of the Bose, I was able to spot what I believe to be the sensor on the extreme right end of the shield, vertically centered. Later today I hope to verify this by connecting everything and using the remote through the Xantech. If it turns out that I'm wrong, I'll post again.
Bose 3-2-1 IR sensor
The IR Receiver is on the Front behind the snap-off front cover. Note you have to take off the front shroud of the DVD player to get the front cover off. Also note the IR is very very delicate and the slighest wrong move will remder the board it connects to broken. If you can get the dvd shroud and front cover off - you'll see what looks like a small rubber dot in the center (top to bottom ) and (side to side). Good luck. Bose does NOT make these units so consumers can work on them. I only know how this works as I too and trying to get my unit repaired and I won't be held hostage by Bose.
I bought a BOSE system in chicago. now in India not working
Electricity in India is 240 Volts, alternating at 50 cycles per
second. You will require a voltage converter if you are carrying a
device that does not accept 240 Volts at 50 Hertz. Check the voltage selector atthe back and set it to teh correct voltage - if not present buy an adaptor. Your component will have to be examined by an expert. Click
