Yea, Its automatic if you leave it on....Bose has that built in.

the problem could be from the rubber attached to the motor of the mechanism of the player, check if the rubber is slack or cut , If found any replace with a new one of the same size. If otherwise replace the whole of the mechanism for better effectiveness.

With your system powered off, look for a tiny hole in the front of the CD/DVD tray, With an opened paper clip, push one end in the hole to see if the tray opens.

Even if it does open, there still could be a mechanical problem and the CD/CD drive would need to be replaced. But, you may get some extended use.

If it doesn't open, the CD/DVD drive would need to be replaced.

It does not die with age, something has failed. Either the speaker or the amp or preamp for the bass. Who told you it dies with age?

most likey you will only get the power from the cable remote because it is such a limited remote..think about a universal remote

buy a DVD lens cleaner

Note DVD LENS cleaner, NOT DVD Cleaner the latter is for the discs, not the player

A second option is to remove lid from your player and gently swab the lens with a cotton bud or similar soft lint free product.

This may not be for the faint hearted, its not a $30 DVD player but BOSE so may be something more suited to a hi-fi repair outfit.

The lens will be really obvious as it faces upwards and looks like a small round clear glass bead.

Make sure its unplugged too!

the acoustimas box has a power cable.
their is a cable from the acousimas (subwoofer) to the dvd plaver, the power supply is included in this cable

check if the belt is not broken, after that check if the microswitch is ok

i think its could be a door belt problem or something block your mechanism open and clean it and replace the belt an see...
