I cant format or put

Some Verbatims have a write protection switch on its side - make sure it's not activated. Then open the properties of the stick in My Computer. If in there the stick isn't set as read only then it has died - there's nothing more you can do to save it. Junk it and get a new one.

Wont open

yo,

if you still having this problem go to

http://www.verbatim.com.sg/products.cfm?ID=62907&driverID=1002

download vsafemini newest version and start it directly from your dektop.

Then you can reopen your files again.

this issue can happen, when the vsafemini.exe file is blocked by an antivirus program

Good Luck

I have a kingston datatraveller 200 64GB. I cannot

You can not. This is a damaged Flash Drive. The portion of the chip that holds the programming has become damaged. I had the exact issue. It had to be sent to a level 3 recovery company. Like ADR or Ontrack. I used ADR. Then you can send the device to Kingston for a free replacement but Kingston will NOT do a data recovery for you.

How can i download pictures from my jump drive to my computer

a flash drive becomes a drive letter in explorer when it is plugged into the usb port. Explore your computer, find the drive letter for the flashdrive then explore that drive. It is simply a matter of finding the pictures and dragging them and dropping them as you normally would with any file on your computer.

Good luck,
James.

Verbatim 1gb flash drive privacy zone lost space

In order to delete your privacy zone, you have to get the application once more. To get the software click here http://verbatim.com/support/support.cfm?open=Downloads ...ok so you will have to format your flash drive with the application, removing the privacy zone if you want, this will obiously DELETE ALL DATA ON THE DRIVE after the format has completed, you can then remove the application from you flash drive, if you still remember the privacy zone password, then all you have to do is just type it and you have acess to the privacy zone... anyone who needs assistance can contact me to [email protected] if you are confused, email me and i can also try to clear it up for you. MAKE SURE THAT YOU CHOOSE THE CORRECT PRIVACY ZONE APPLICATION FOR YOUR FLASHDRIVE

I have a 4G Verbatim flash disk. I can't format it

Hello

There is a physical switch along the edge of the card which allows the card to be protected. If the switch is set to lock or protected then nothing you do in software will matter.

Take a good look at the label it should have a marking next to the switch. Once you change the switch position it should start working normally again.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Crankstart

I forgot my password on my verbatim flash. i think

The 10 password attempt lockdown is one of their selling features... If it could be easily hacked you probably wouldn't want that product anyways - if you don't care if it gets cracked then save some money and go with an unencrypted version. Your best defense is to make sure that the user is properly educated when they receive the drive to not push their luck like they do for login passwords that are easier to recover from.

The product page for the normal product mentions that the security features are only availble under Windows OS - so if it wasn't Windows, there ya go - no encryption. I'm guessing that it was, in which case you *might* (don't quote me here, I don't know the specific inner workings of this specific product) have a copy of the key on the Windows computer where it was originally used (where the key would have been generated). IF that is the case, then you could retreive that and have an expert assist you with decryption (OnTrack, etc. would probably be your best bet unless you live in a very populous area - and maybe even then). The other possibility is that the key is almost certainly contained within the thumb drive - retreiving it comes down to the quality of the product. Verbatim has been around long enough to likely do things well enough that trying to get to it through software should be properly locked down, and getting hardware access to the chip to try to sniff the flash will likely destroy the hardware (even if done by a pro) - although the normal version isn't spouting FIPS-140 certification, so maybe they don't go to that length.
http://www.verbatim.com/usb/store_n_go.cfm

Their product page for the "corporate" logoed product mentions that data is protected with AES-256 encryption, which is virtually uncrackable in our lifetime. I'm not sure what algrorithm the non-corporate version uses, but most modern encryption methods will take many years (at best) to crack.
http://www.verbatim.com/usb/corporate.cfm

I would recommend trying to contact OnTrack and see if they might be able to do anything - if they can get the private key then they will have a good chance at it, if not then a brute crack of AES-256 is not really a viable option as it has never been cracked straight-forward. I wouldn't get your hopes up, but it is worth the call just in case.

Good luck!
